Default Does a failed unlock mean I can update to FW 1.1.1?

Tried using AnySIM to unlock and got a "failed unlock" after a couple of tries. Also verified the unlock failed by trying (unsuccessfully) to use another SIM. So, does that mean it's alright to update my FW or was the baseband still altered enough to brick it if I try? Thanks in advance!

    Current FW: 1.0.2 (1C28)
    Modem FW: 03.14.08_G

    check the IMEI number.

go to settings >> General >> About,,, then find the IMEI number

IF it matches the one on the back of your iPhone, you're good

IF it does NOT,,, never update,,, because your iPhone will become an iPod touch

I recommend that you wait until 1.1.1 is fully hacked so you can add third-party apps and other stuff. Nothing special about 1.1.1 if it doesn't support third-party apps.

This is not correct. Both locked and unlocked phones running 1.02 or older will show the same IMEI number under General/About as is etched on the back of the device. Accordingly, checking the IMEI cannot tell you whether or not you can update to 1.1.1. The IMEI switch only occurs AFTER the phone is bricked.

In fact, without more info regarding why the unlocked failed, I don't think it's possible to determine whether or not you can safely update.

Due to this uncertainty, I suggest you don't -- at least until the Dev Team releases the tools necessary to unbrick your device.
