But much appreciated the time and effort you're putting into this guide, i'm almost debating doing the unlock myself.....

sorry the only camera i have at this very moment is my other iphone's camera...
    really sorry

damm you steve jobs! such a fantastic phone and no macro in it's camera......LOL....

I'll try to change the pictures later....as soon as I get my camera back....

last year when geohot first released his method...took like the whole night trying to open this phone....

if anyone with this thread opens it in less time without damaging it....

    It's enough for me.....

I realized that this forum help me a lot.....

and try to put something helpful at this moment...since no sw unlock available...

when sw unlock came....thought that would never have to open other iphone in my life......

    but....

    that's all.....

    thank you all....and sorry again....

t's important to understand that in some iphones the silver case comes out just fine...in others....need to put some more pressure on it....
    VERY TRUE!!!

older phones are MUCH easier, newer (1.1.2) are much harder... the tolerances/spaces are much less.. making the phone tighter/sealed better

once the sharp tip of the bottle opener is under the screw tabs/under the silver track holding the cover onto the case, it actually pops/snaps off easily...

yes the black cover was taken off before.. stated on the blog..

as you said when you have ten apart many phones or the same few a few times you quickly understand how to do it quick and easy, where you can apply ALLOT of force without damaging etc.. i realized popping the cover off the track that holds it to teh screen is ALLOT easier than trying to separate it at the seams with a wedge tool (guitar pick, plastic spatula / palette etc)
completely agree with that...it's all about he right pressure....and guitar pick, plastic spatula / palette etc is really hard....not mentioning the sore on your hands....even using the opening tool....

the screw tabs/under the silver track holding the cover onto the case is really fragile...

surely it will leave less plastic bending marks at the cover......

in my first iphone, I broke it....now understanding the whole process is because I had to apply the pressure of 3-4 locks on the same spot....

not that your iphone won't close after that breaking it......actually no one will notice
but not confortable to know you broke it....LOL!!!

    anyways....thanks a lot!

I still wonder what Apple uses to open the iPhone. I mean they replace batteries and refurbish phones so they must have the perfect tool.

That's a corporate secret. My guess would be they use something really high tech, something very very special and never seen before..... like a sledge hammer BANG ! Ops there we go, open.

I just bough the plastic opening tool, was hopping that it would be much easier with it cause i opened 2 iphones and they were not easy at all

question: Is less easy to bend the silver case with the plastic tool?

Guys, open the case - ok. The last step is also a problem, no? When I saw the "thin" hairlines of traces where I am supposed to connect to.... HELL... I need a microscope for this.
