the only thing that holds the top of the silver case is the sim tray…..hope you removed it….
    The other side….

    4 locks….

pop it one by one to the top of the case

do not pull the silver cover yet….

There’s a lash from the silver cover connected to the comm Board…. Unplug it

    Now the comm board

The metal covers are only pressed to the board by this points as represented with the dot…really sorry….only iphone camera available…..

now using the blade….some people prefer a tiny flat screw driver…. Pop it out in this poits…starting at the point shown in the pic…

there’s lot of plastic glue in some points….

    there you go…..

    and that’s it…..

    now….

    2 needles…
    thin wire….
    Magnifying lens….

    AND SOME MORE PATIENCE…..

I use a school compass with the needles attached to it…properly isolated and wired to do the testpoint by myself….

THE PRYING-OPENING TOOL IS NOT EFFICIENT AS SHOWN IN PDA PARTS VIDEO…

    I BOUGHT TEN OF THEM……HAVE 4 LEFT….NOT USING IT ANYMORE…

    JUST TRIED TO HELP….

DID THIS PROCESS LIKE MORE THAN 30 TIMES….

REALLY SORRY FOR THE POOR AND UNFOCUSED PICS….
I’LL TRY TO TAKE BETTER PICS….AS SOON AS I GET MY CAM BACK….

I already tried using guitar picks in many different width...it's really hard to open with it...
using the blade...or any other similar instrument properly.....I SAID PROPERLY.....it wont damage the case....

case opening tool is slightly better....

I personally prefer a swiss army knife....

sorry for the low quality pics again....

    cheers!

the black cover does not come out that easily.....unless you opened it before damaging the center locks...

and using the bottle opener..will surely damage your case....at least a bending mark on each side where you tried to use it as a lever....

this is why the lock position is so important to know.....

in the pda parts video the guy uses a opened iphone and pretends to easily slide the opening tool at the case gap......

I'm not saying that it doesnt work.....
I made it only one time just like the video...

all the other times....it didn't come out so easily..

the easiest way is popping the case at the locks....

    believe me....

it's important to understand that in some iphones the silver case comes out just fine...in others....need to put some more pressure on it....

its useless to try to convince ppl, but my method leaves no to little scratches, unless you see it in person you would never believe i guess

once the sharp tip of the bottle opener is under the screw tabs/under the silver track holding the cover onto the case, it actually pops/snaps off easily...

yes the black cover was taken off before.. stated on the blog..

as you said when you have taken apart many phones, or even the same few a few times/allot, you quickly understand/realize how to do it quick and easy, where you can apply ALLOT of force without damaging etc.. i realized popping the cover off the track that holds it to the screen is ALLOT easier than trying to separate it at the seams with a wedge tool (guitar pick, plastic spatula / palette etc)
