The cause for the crashes in phone and sms apps is a new limitation introduced by Apple in AppSupport. Now there is a list of "official" countries. So if your SIM card is from a country that is not on the list, these apps will crash.

Current list is: US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Japan and China.

But do not dispair, you can patch AppSupport at 0xA0A0 by replacing a combination of country and international prefix. For example change fr/33 to your country ISO code and the country prefix.

There is also another thing in AppSupport, that is the callerId matching, that is now country based. Another much more complex path is required. Fortunately there is a tool that can perform both patches.

Take a look at: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...182#post120182 after post #222

The hard part is to decide the phone callerid pattern for your country, and some countries, many not have a pattern that works with Apple's algorithm. Take a look at the above thread.

Instead of the double-clicking the bat, open cmd and run the bat from there.

See previous answer. Depending on where you live, the solution may already exist.

New unlock method is out too now. This one works straight from unlocked v1.1.1 to 1.1.2 : http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...&postcount=445

    No downgrading involved.

    Enjoy.

Also for people who cannot run the windows.bat file...try installing java runtime first.

i'v got very stiupid problem with this instruction. Where is the place to click for "update" in the step 4 ? My ITunes is 7.4.3.1.

    "Step 4: Update to 1.1.2
    1. Connect your device to your computer
    2. Launch iTunes
    3. Choose your device
    4. Click Update
    - If update still shows 1.1.1 as being the newest version, you may download the 1.1.2 from an
Apple download server and shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) on "Check for update" and
    select the update you downloaded.
    - DO NOT CLICK OR SHIFT-CLICK RESTORE: That will wipe the changes OktoPrep made.
    5. Wait forever for your device to update

So do u need to restore your FW 1.1.1 before upgrading to FW 1.1.2 or can we just use OKtoPrep on an unlocked 1.1.1 using AnySIM 1.1?

Looks to me (from the README file) is that you can skip to Step 3 but im not sure if anyone has tested this...

    "----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3: Prepare your 1.1.1 device for the Update

    1. Launch Installer.app

    2. Scroll down to Tweaks (1.1.1)

    3. Select OktoPrep

    4. Click Install

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3b: Prevent SpringBoard crash on previous hacked iPod touches

If you have installed MobileMail on your iPod touch, there is a chance an update to 1.1.2 will
render your device inoperable until a restore. This issue can be prevented by switching Auto-Check
    off.

    - Go to General->Mail->Auto-Check. Set it to Manual.

If you forget to do this step and update, proceed with the jailbreak in step 5 (even though
SpringBoard is unusable) and we will fix it for you.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Step 4: Update to 1.1.2

    1. Connect your device to your computer

    2. Launch iTunes

    3. Choose your device

    4. Click Update
    - If update still shows 1.1.1 as being the newest version, you may download the 1.1.2 from an
Apple download server and shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) on "Check for update" and
    select the update you downloaded.

    - DO NOT CLICK OR SHIFT-CLICK RESTORE: That will wipe the changes OktoPrep made.

    5. Wait forever for your device to update

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 5: Jailbreak your iPod Touch or iPhone

WARNING: If your iPhone is unactivated, it will be factory "hactivated" for you and YouTube enabled.
If this is not desired behavior, activate your iPhone with iTunes before proceeding.

    1. Close iTunes

    2. Connect your device to your computer

    3. On Windows, double click on windows.bat, on Mac, double click on jailbreak.jar

    4. Follow the on screen instructions."
