Dead Iphone
Hi, i think my iphone is dead is anyone able to help.
I try to connect it to the computer using OSX and Itunes, and itunes says that there is a problem with the iphone and to return it to a store.
The iphone starts up and and goes to the emergency key pad but i try the us the codes to get into the phone and then the iphone crashes and on the screen you have the i tunes logo and a plug pointing towards it, also there is a circular timer going around in the centre of the screen.
Is there anyway to reboot the phone with out using itunes etc, i cant seem to get the phone into restore mode!
any help would be much appreciated the phone is a us week 42 on 1.1.1 i believe?
Thanks

well...that sucks. sorry dude. is there any other info you can provide? such as, was the phone initially working? did you install an app or try to upgrade?
also, did you try to this:
"Hidden Recovery/Restore Mode -
If you have 1.1.1/1.1.2, you also have this hidden restore mode that can be used to downgrade to 1.0.2, and is also a good failsafe for the other recovery mode. (NOTE: I am not sure if 1.0.2 has this mode or not). The timing is critical if you want to get in. The procedure starts out the same as the other mode, only you really shouldn't have the usb/power cable connected. Hold the power and home buttons for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button and hold the home button for another 10 seconds. At this point, connect the usb cable and iTunes should detect your phone in recovery mode. Your iPhone will not appear to be on, the screen will be dark throughout the whole process until the actual restore begins. If the screen comes back on while you're holding the power and home buttons, you're holding too long. It takes a while to get the hang of it, just keep trying." this is from the "general" posting area.

I got that screen once... I am sure if its the same case, coz I didnt get the message in iTunes, but...
Try to downgrade to 1.0.2 with ibrickr, you probably wont have to put in recovery mode, but if ibrickr doesnt recognize your phone, put it in recovery mode. use IPHUC and enter command: enterrecovery and then wait a bit, it will enter recovery mode. If ibrickr still doesnt recognize, change usb port and/or restart computer...
After downgrading, check if you got problems with your ICCID and IMEI...
If you do, search the forum and youll probably find a solution

when you try to select the file, it opens a folder with files inside it ?
Tell me the file(you just downloaded) extension, please.

The file name (with extension) should be: iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw
If its not a restore image, (if its a zip for example) rename it.

694-5298-5.dmg
