This Key has nothing to do with the baseband.

About 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OOTB i can tell you we did progress.

This key is something even more important, but not for unlockers.

Could be many things, it's currently being discussed here
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25818

It could be the key to signing apps, leaving the jailbreak solutions useless.
Or just as N41 says in the other thread, could also be the key used to load info back to the bootloader.

Or it might be the key that iTunes uses to validate firmware files, resulting in a flood of custom firmware that can be uploaded to the phone using iTunes shift-update. Maybe not so likely but boy that would be fun
    - iPhone 1.1.1 with everything working
    - iPhone 1.1.2 still in the box (for whenever backup is needed)

it could be the combination of the lock on my luggage, oh wait thats 1.2.3.4.5

i doubt it has anything to do with the bootloader, hence, thats what you have to attack to unlock it. im pretty sure if they could access the baseband theyd have an unlock pretty easily.
