Do what I did.
1) Install your iPhone with the "normal" BSD Subsystem and Installer.app.
2) Add in this source: http://apptapp.saurik.com
3) Install Cydia (It over rides BSD Subsystem, so don't update THAT after installing Cydia)
Now BOTH Installer.app AND Cydia work!
Then, all you need is to download the "Fake BSD Subsystem" when a new "version" comes out which will trick all apps into believing that you have BSD Subsystem installed, instead of Telesphore (spelling) ...
;-)
P.S. I use Installer.app AND Cydia packager for installing apps. It works! I remove all of the sources from Installer that are already included in Cydia! e.g. ModMyiFone repo

I am not sure if you understand my question. I asked what to do with this red flashing 40 updates. The thing is that actually I don't know what came with Cydia in the first place. When I click Uninstall, there is a list of stuff which I don't remember to have before. And under Changes "button" there is hugh list of stuff I don't know what are they for. But number 40 is flashing . So, should I click Update all or what ?
And to add that I don't see Installer install possibility within this Cydia packager. There is no Installer under package list.

Same question here...

I am also in same situation. I replaced the com board after my iPhone was ZiPhoned (that guy Zibri... what a waste!) and installed all stuff with iLiberty. I checked the "installer" and "Cyndia" too but only Cyndia was installed.
I don't want to mess again with restore, jailbreak, etc, etc... Is there another way to install the installer or simply to add other sources? As it was mentioned in a post above, there is no such feature. What it the best thing to do other that going again through all restore process?

@DigitALL
You surely meant Cydia, not "Cyndia"
Anyway, this packager is confusing to me. Under Uninstall, I presume there are stuff which are installed on iPhone, but I don't see this stuff-icons on "desktop".
Confusing. I would rather have Installer but don't know how. Or is the only way to restore and start all over . What is exact procedure for that ?

That's it. Search this site a little, and also ModMyiFone forums.
The Installer.app zip file is available on the apptapp repo at
http://repository.apptapp.com/packag.../Installer.zip

Thank you for the info man! How or where we could find some clear steps of doing what you said: "extract it, and upload it to your iPhone using SSH. Then you need to fix the permissions to let it run correctly" ?
I am sure is peanuts for someone familiar with terminal and commands but average Joe, like us, not that easy and confusing, not to mention that we can screw it pretty good.

I searched but I found nothing yet. I mean, I found something on ModMyiFone forums but it is old procedure with old iPhone firmware and old version of Installer .
