    Default confusing problem.....

    Hi!
I have been fighting with a rather ridiculous issue. I'm trying to update my iPhone so I can use anySIM. My current FW is 1.0 and iTunes just won't update my phone to version 1.02. I have tried everything I've read of..... straight update, restore, restoring while in recovery mode.....

I have downloaded the restore files for version 1.0, 1.01 and 1.02 and right now I seem to have painted myself into a corner as my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode displaying the Yellow triangle and the "Please Connect to iTunes" message. This happened when I tried shiftclicking the restore button and using one of the downloaded .ipsw files. The error message is the same for all versions "The iPhone unit could not be restored. There is not enough memory available".

I'm on windows XP, using iTunes 7.4.2 and I have activated, jailbroken and rejailed my iPhone using wiNstaller. Could it be the wiNstaller that has put me in the shite here....

Any help or suggestions would be more than welcome. I don't have access to a MAC right now but I have friend who does, if it would be an idea to try restoring from a MAC instead.

    /minx

    Default

to get out of restore mod hold on and home again untill the phone resets
to restore , with phone off hold home and connect phone to computer
hold shift and click restore and choose 1.02 .ipsw file

make sure you have space on the harddrive itunes is installed on

if it still won't work unistall itunes reset and install 7.4.1.2
    download from filehippo.com

Default found this in the general forum

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...light=recovery

it gives some further ideas of how to proceed......
I'll try calling a friend of mine who has a MAC see if that will work better

    also found this

From what I can understand a guy called Mubs says he used an older version of the MobileDevice.framework on a MAC and that there has been changes made to this file in the later versions of iTunes that's causing the problems.
I'll try an older version of iTunes as well......found a load of them here

    Smile Total Success :)

Thnx to Coatzin for the fix......

This was the one that saved me...

Apparently you should have plenty of harddisk space for temporary files to be written when you do a restore of the iPhone.
I tried on another computer that had 57 Gb free space on C: and it still didn't work. I tried another computer with iTunes version 7.3.2.6 ......still didn't work.
Then I tried Coatzin's fix with pointing the temp folder in Windows XP to another HD with 360 Gb free space......And it worked brilliantly...

Click the start button.....right click my computer.....click properties....click advanced tab.....click environment variables.....
change two of the system variables, TMP and TEMP, from "%SystemRoot%\TEMP" to "D:\TEMP" or any other HD that has enough free space. Also change the two user variables, TMP and TEMP, to the same as above.
Restart your machine and try again.

Restoration to 1.0.2 now worked brilliantly for me.

I'm finally off to start from scratch again with unlocking my iPhone......
I'll drop a post here when I've succeded. Once again a big THNX to Coatzin....
