Default [CONFIRMED] 1.1.3 Baseband Upgrade, Work has started.

    pspsully:

    Guys,

I can confirm for you that this new firmware update DOES have a baseband upgrade!! If any of you had actually bothered to check out what Nate had to say on his site, he clearly says that when trying to Upgrade an Unlock 1.1.2 iPhone to 1.1.3, the baseband upgrade fails!!

Now, the file that was sent to Nate ise the ispw file and it is been currently worked on by all the right people. Be patient!!

Thought a new thread would be better for this type of GOOD information

pspsully is a very reliable source. He has been an active member in the 1.1.2 OTB Hardware Unlock and the BL downgrade through hardware methods.

Been receiving news that this is true, but I'm not to sure about it. I'll post it anyways, but take it with a grain of salt
    Dan:
As you all know the 1.1.3 Firmware has been leaked, it may not be a final version but never the least it has been leaked. After a discussion with a member of the iphone dev there is 1 good news but 2 bad news, Good news it does indeed have a Baseband/bootloader upgrade BUT the bad news apparrently apple have done a very good job with this update, it is encrypted with 1024bit key, which is not going to be very easy to crack could take a long while. Also even looking at it they dont even know if it will be possible to get the secpack from it, as i said Apple have done a very good job with this one. I will keep everyone updated on the Dev teams process during the week.
Feel the urge to talk about this without getting your post deleted? Well, you've come to the wrong place!

Now we have conformation from the dev team that the baseband update does indeed exist.

All credit to gearlive for breaking the story (its a shame you didn't or couldn't provide evidence to support).

Thanks to pspsully for the clarification!

They already have, and always will. Just a matter of time I think. I dare say they're even smarter...dammit...apple guys working so hard to lock this thing, and the DevTeam, just a group of normal people with a passion for hacking always find a way to give us a little piece of heaven. These dudes are amazing. Honestly, thank you.

So Dev team has the new firmware and the seczone they need to unlock the bb on 4.06 boootloader iphones?
Can anyone confirm? Not just a random guy.Someone who has contact with Dev members.

    One thing to add:
Since we know that the 4.06 bootloader allows baseband upgrades/changes only if:
1)You are trying to upgrade(newer version) the baseband(no downgrade)
2)You have a digitaly signed baseband

From what I've read we are going to "upgrade" the non-unlockable 1.1.2 Baseband to an unlockable version of 1.1.2 by spoofing its signature and making the bootloader think its the 1.1.3 baseband version?
In that case if someone accidentaly upgrades to 1.1.4 or whatever comes next, he will lock his phone once again and have to wait for 1.1.5(and so on) for a new unlock...

If that is the case maybe there should be a sticky on the forum: Do not upgrade to 1.1.2 OTB iphones to 1.1.3

Of course now that I'm re-thinking of it, it all resides on how does the 4.06 bootloader checks the baseband version. If the version is NOT in the digital signature that means we have 2 digital signatures, one from the baseband from 1.1.2 and one from the baseband in 1.1.3.
So we could fake the bb version, add the unlock code and then use one of the signatures to make the bootloader "upgrade" the baseband.
But if this was the case(bb version NOT in digital signature) wouldn't that be possible already with one signature?

Ok that was the second best news of the year. At least now we know for sure that the DevTeam has the update file and is trying to retrieve the secpack. It's cristal clear.
