Another way to set configure your voicemail dialing (if it doesn't work with the voice mail button, or if you want to change the number that it dials), is as follows:

1. Download the program sendmodem from: http:// code . google . com /p/iphone-elite/downloads/list (remove the spaces and download the file sendmodem.zip)

2. Put the file sendmodem in /usr/bin on the iPhone and change it to executable with chmod +x sendmodem

3. Then execute the following command on the iPhone from /usr/bin

sendmodem "AT+CSVM=1,\"yournumberhere\""

where your number is e.g. +15551239999

Does anyone know if you can but a chain dial string in the xxx spot? trying to get my phone to automatically dial in my password when i hit the voicemail button for tmo usa.

------ okay, please ignore, i just realized all i have to do is disable password security... duh!

Click on your iPhone's phone button.
Then click on the Keypad tab.
You need to then add the following code: *5005*86*xxx#.
Here xxx would be your voicemail number. (UK vodafone 121)
After entering the code you tap call.

Is there any way to enter a pause while dialing? I want the iphone to be able to dial my voicemail, wait till it connects and then enter the password, when I press the voicemail button....does anyone know how this could be possible?

You may want to try to set your OWN NUMBER as the voicemail number. It worked in my case !!!!
