Let's list the week of production of your iphone and firmware version
The below is true from what I understand, it applies to other apple product I have.
the 4-5 digit of the serial is the week of manufacturing.
the first 3 refers to manufacturing location and other info.
So instead of looking at 7R/7U etc, could we consilidate information on which week the new firmware is in the iPhone.
thank you all

I really need to know... Going to buy one tomorrow (Saturday) morning!
Thanks, guys!

I'd say they were simply out of stock because everybody was trying to get a 1.0.1 this week. I'm not convinced yet that they're actually even planning on selling phones with 1.1.1 pre-installed. Almost none were sold with 1.0.2 despite the fact that that version has been out for quite a while.

I agree. I haven't see even one iphone preinstalled with version 1.0.2 yet. Which makes me think 1.1.1 will be long way off.
