Carrier Settings 1.1.2 Help!
i've tried searching for methods to enable carrier settings working on my t-mobile (USA) phone unlocked to 1.1.2 firmware. so far the only guide i have found is listed below from http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17185
Has anyone been able to get carrier settings working on their phone? i tried the method below and it doesnt work for me...i'm not sure if i am doing something wrong in the editing process tailored to t-mobile settings. i plug in my att card and carrier settings show up, but doesnt work for my t-mobile. anyone can help?
Carrier settings *optional* (For those who wanna sexy up that iphone )
- Winscp to your phone and put ls and bash in /bin
- Click on "more", set both permissions to 0755
- Check here for your carrier's MCC and MNC (it's not as hard as it sounds)
e.g MCC = 334 MNC = 02, the number we'll need is 33402
- Open the Telcel.plist in UltraEdit or wordpad and modify accordingly (Don't forget to rename your .plist file & change the supported sim section)
- Use winscp to put the modified .plist to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/
- Open putty and connect to your phone
- Type bash at the prompt
- Type cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support
- Type ln -s NUMBER YOURCARRIER.plist
e.g ln -s 33402 Telcel.plist
- Remove your sim and put some other sim in it to reset the carrier settings(maybe that unactivated att simcard lying around? )
- Remove the sim card and put back in yours after the phone detected it
- You should be set, no reboot needed
I think the command should be
ln -s Telcel.plist 33402
I was able to easily get it working....
Modify a .plist file of your choosing and save it to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/TMobile_US.plist
(I used the TMobile_Germany file as an example.)
Create a symlink to your file
ln -s TMobile_US.plist 310260
(in the above directory of course)
swap in an at&t sim, remove it and swap in the t-mobile sim.
Both files in /var/root/Library/Preferences should link to your modified .plist
ls -la in the above directory will show you what they're linked to.
You MUST use the correct MNC/MCC, everything I read told me it should be 31026 which is NOT correct it is 310260 for me in SoCal.
There is also a supported sims section in the new plist files you must add the correct number there as well.
I can post my TMobile_US.plist file if you want, but you will still need to make sure you're using the correct MNC/MCC.
There is a good list on Wikepedia as well as many other pages on the net.
Thankyou iamz and socal! your help has solved my problem! moving the mnc command after the plist solved everything! thankyou for all your help!! working carrier settings for TMobile USA!! on hawaii network using 310260!!!
Would you please put our Tmobile_us.plist. i try but didn't work
