I was a noob to this forum a couple of weeks ago but I still trawled through all the relevant posts which took time, I didn't expect people to repeat themselves over and over and over again because I was too damn lazy to look.

Asking the same questions will not produce an unlock any quicker and no matter how important you feel you are the search tool is there for every one, so use it before posting.

Absolutely 100% f'ing gold. Dead on man.

The rest of you kids whining about people flaming your questions, when you're too lazy to scroll down 5 threads to answer your question - be glad the mods on this site aren't real active, because all of this bullshit would be locked immediately.

There's a certain amount of decency and respect new posters need to show on forums and there's a serious lack of that respect here.

You all want the answer in the fastest laziest way possible, and you should be ashamed.

    Angry

What doesn't make any sense is why there is no sticky saying that 1.1.2 cannot be unlocked, is it that hard?

I'm sick of people flaming newbies --if you can't help the man, just navigate away to a different thread and ignore him, no need to make him feel bad just because you presumably know more than he does.
Search the forum, you will find all about terminology and all about how to upgrade, how to downgrade and if it is possible and no one will claim about stupid questions, but if you will ask about so obvious question about this and other easily find answers about iPhone (iPhone 1.1.2- bootloader 4.6) then I agree with foojohn!

U have to search and be patient when you will read posts.
Yes You are well educated in technology but if You will start to read posts and threads from the beginning U will upgrade your knowledge not just about technology but also terminology as well.....
Some of them they even didn't try to search they just expect to push F1 and solution will be here........

If they will try to google they will be pointed to right answer(most of them or most relevant answers about will be pointed to hackint0sh) and that's it!

Treads are so unreadable because of this kind of questions or because some of them are so lazy to find answer by themselves and I'm very angry about that because you will find right answer or right question on at least ten stupid........

Yes foojohn it's time to stop that. The forum is exelent but unfortunately also very unreadable because of that.

    Regards,
    Jaka

PS It's so simple to put in search (doesn't matter if it's google or hackint0sh) a few words let say: unlock iPhone 1.1.2 .....

I have an idea about how to deal with lazy noobs. I think the best way is stop being too nice by answering really lazy noob's questions and stop being too harsh by flaming on really lazy noob's questions. What we should do is just ignore them, don't give them any response at all, act like they don't exist. If we do this long enough, they will learn that using the search button will get them the answers much faster than just starting "sorry if this has been asked before but I'm a noob" thread right away. We don't have to do anything and we all will live in peace.

The worst thing in starting a new thread is not being flamed, it's being completely ignored.

First of all quit wasting space and time about flaming and other BS, no more should be said about that. Stick to the topic

This guide seems to work pretty good, and you can choose your phone version. Although it does not do the Sim unlock it gets you ready. The main problem is the Boot_Loader the new 1.1.2 OTB phones come with 04.06_M3S2 and all the other phones were SIM Unlocked at 3.9_M3S2. I hear they are working on the hack for that.

    http://www.unlockthatiphone.com/process.php

    For new OTB 1.1.2 pick
    Firmware version 1.1.2
    Modem version 04.02.13.G
    Never been unlocked
    Brand new

i'm just after tryin that and he wont work for me
I'm new to all of this and am kinda confused, the iphone is simlocked and software locked?? I know 1.1.2 cant be sim unlocked but can it be software unlocked so that itunes etc will work?? I hope i'm not repeating this Q for the millionth time, but i'm a bit confused.

Anyway i followed the unlocktheiphone.com process
went to recovery mode, then restore'd to 1.1.1 using itunes and got the error message, but when i run iNdependence its just says that the iphone is still in recovery mode??? I guessing this is the boot problem??

Thanks in advance for any help

Don't get confused with those terms.

Jailbreak means getting the root access so that you can put any files to anywhere you want in the phone. It's the first thing that must be done.

Activation means getting out of "Please connect to iTunes" screen and get the access to SpringBoard so that you can install and use 3rd party software. When you reach this point, you phone has the same function as iPod Touch

Unlock means making your phone accepts any SIM card in the world. You have to jailbreak and activate first to install anySIM in your phone.

Sim unlock just means unlock. Software unlock means unlock your phone by installing a piece of software to unlock your phone. Hardware unlock means unlock your phone by opening the back cover and messing with the circuit board.
