Can you unlock your iPhone in France?
Does anyone know the whole process of unlocking the iPhone in France?
Its an additional 100euros from what I recall.
Is it possible to get an iPhone from US and request an unlock in France?
That way the cost will drop from 750 euros to $400 + 100e
The turbosim costs around $70 and its not available at the moment.Buying one from ebay would cost more than having a phone officially unlocked. And the unlock will survive future updates...

There was a discussion about this earlier...I don't think they let you do that. Would be nice though.

The thread was deleted, but yes, france was selling OTB 1.1.2 unlocked phones for +- 700 Euros.
But no, I don't know how it was done, but from what i read, it was done by unlocking the IMEI number with apple

I have a relative who lives in France.
Yesterday he called the French Apple store telling that he 's going to receive an iPhone
from US (my present to him) as a Xtmas present. He asked how much would it cost to unlock it.
Apple answer : it is illegal
Illegal?! The iphone has not been stolen, but bought in an Apple store
They asked then the imei and the serial #
"oh yes, you did not get it yet..."
"Don't worry I will provide you the numbers as soon as I get my iPhone" :p
Other doubts?

Here's my story. I brought 3 AT&T iPhones to England. I gave one to my uncle who has o2. We called, they asked for the serial number, and said the phone was locked to AT&T. They said they can not switch it to o2 and can not lock it to o2 for us. Anyway - I unlocked plenty of phones in the U.S. The phones I brought are 1.1.2 OTB, my uncle is kinda pissed - he would take the phone even if he had to sign the contract with o2 ...
Well, Hope this answered your question: you can not get a U.S. iPhone and try it on the French network or English network.
I'm in England right now .. fucking iPhones

Not really, the iPhone is the only phone this ridiculously locked down and tied to specific carriers by nature. So yes, fucking iPhones!
