Default Can IPSF unlocked phones really not be virginized?

I read somewhere that you cannot re-virginize a phone that has been unlocked with IPSF. Can anyone confirm this? I wanna give upgrading to 1.1.1 another go (I failed last week, messed up my phone, and had to fix the baseband via terminal on the phone).

I guess I'm addicted to trying to hack this phone, I am at 1.02 and it's currently fully functional, so I know that if I brick my phone I will have thoroughly earned it. I can't help myself though, I can't wait to try again

WTF? You don't need to Virginize if you used IPSF and want to update to 1.1.1
Did you even read the forums?

    Just update.

I did read the forums, but the last time I tried I could not activate the phone, there was no solution for that yet. THAT's when I ran into problems and modded some files that I shouldn't have. Now I'm afraid that the bones of the phone are messed up and want to get it fresh again before I upgrade. Sorry if I didn't explain this earlier, didn't realize the internet police were on the case.

Why do you want to virginize your IPSF modded iphone?!?!

Update from 1.02 to 1.1.1 works like a charm with IPSF.....

    Final answer.

    No they cant.

IPSF zeroes out the seczone in the baseband, taking advantage of a bug in the encryption algorithm in order to have the phone appear unlocked.

There is a pretty significant chance that IPSF takes backups of the phone's seczone on their backend servers, so if in the future virginization IS required for IPSF unlocked phones, they COULD provide a backup. However nothing is certain and as far as i know, IPSF hasnt issued an "official" statement concerning this issue.
iPhone 4 GB running 1.1.1 (virginized from 1.0.2) on Vodafone Greece
    Activated/Jailbroken/Unlocked via Safari Exploit/TouchFree/Anysim
    Calls in/out YES/YES
    SMS in/out YES/YES
EDGE Probably yes, havent tried yet
    Wifi/YouTube/Wireless iTunes YES/YES/YES

Like many, I rushed to the non-IPSF solution though i paid for the 'trash' license of IPSF.
    I 're-virginized' the phone.

I then installed IPSF and re-unlocked my phone.
Then there was LA20's guide. Pretty straightforward. No need to run any other unlucks since IPSF is restore & updated resistant.

As far as 1.1.1 goes, the updates seemed to be minor. No killer app unless you want to be able to fund the mobile ver of Itunes and perhaps show videos on a TV via iphone.

I still had to update though.
