Question Can I Still Unlock using Old Method on my 1.0.2 phone?

    Hi all,

I'm new here. After reading so many new posting regarding the 1.1.1 firmware. I was just wondering, I have this virigin iphone w/ firmware 1.0.2 on it and I also have 7.4.2 itunes on my pc at the moment. If I do not proceed with the update for itunes and iphone firmware, would I be able to use the unlock methods (anySim 1.0.2 or the 17 mins one) to unlock the phone and jailbreak? (Perhaps not connecting to the internet so that it won't update?)

    Thanks,
    Matt

If you're on a PC, you can shift+click the restore/update button in iTunes and restore/update to 1.0.2 instead of 1.1.1. You need to download the 1.0.2 firmware to your computer (in ipsw format) to do this. There are links floating around for it.

Nikos, I don't think you read his post.

Auboy, you should be able to use either method, as long as you don't upgrade to 1.1.1.

    Woops, I misred it

The answer is yes, you can still unlock a 1.0.2 phone. I unlocked one today AFTER the update came out. As long as you don't update to 1.1.1, you're set.

I didn't use either of those methods, though. I used the older unlock.app method.

Would I be able to unlock my iPhone too? I bought it yesterday and it's just been sitting in it's box. I'm pretty sure it's 1.0.2 but I'm not sure. Can someone post a link to a guide from box to unlock that I could use? Also does the "17 minuets" guide work? Cause step 5 it says to restore but that will update the 1.1.1

you dont need to restore as long as youre sure that your phone firmware is 1.0.2

Ahh, thank you. So just skip step 5 on the "Unlocked, no problems, 17 minutes. Again." guide and I'll be fine?

Someone told me all the iphones were bricked and I was stupid for buying one and I can't unlock it anymore. I got scared.

JUST READ the instruction carefully, you'll be fine. or if you want.. you can wait a little bit more for the new unlock method for the firmware 1.1.1

Gah, I'm phoneless right now so I kinda want to do it now. I mean I could wait, it's not like I'll die without a phone but it would be nice. Yeah I've been re-reading the guide over and over making sure to do everything rigth. I'll just make sure after the the phone resets 2-3 times and gets the ! yellow triangle. I won't open itunes so it doesn't restore and just open up apptapp?
