Can I downgrade a 1.1.2? (was: a simple Yes or No...)
Trying to help out a friend!
Here in Australia we have been excluded by Apple from having an iPhone as yet. Thus, my friend has bought an iphone from ebay in an unlocked state. Working fine for a week. Unfortunately he updated the phone on iTunes to version 1.1.2. Bad news, I know!
Is it yet possible to unbrick this thing? I have spent many hours today trying to downgrade the firmware to 1.1.1, however, when the itunes has done it thing I get an error 1510 or something. I tried to use iNdependence to get it out of restore mode with no success. What now guys? Sit back and wait??
I understand that a OTB with 1.1.2 cannot be un-bricked!!
Many thanks in advance...
iTunes 7.4 Intel imac

Try to downgrade again with the 1.1.1 Software. Make sure iNdependance etc. is not running. After the downgrade is finished (even with a error message), quit iTunes. Now start iNdependance and let it get your iPhone out of recovery mode...this worked for me
Also you can try to get a Windows Machine and run iBrickr to get it out of recovery mode..or try downgrading to 1.0.2.
Cheers

find a windows machine, and run ibrickr... that will help... after that, jailbreak, then add i.unlock.no to sources, install bsd subsystem first, then isntall virginizer, then restore your phone one more time to 1.1.1, install oktoprep, then update (not restore) to 1.1.2, jailbreak it, and then turn the airplane mode on, install anysim 1.2.1u from rep.frenchiphone.com and unlock you phone again... then you have 1.1.2 unlocked and fully functional

Ya, try using a windows machine. If iBrickr doesn't work than try using this guide:

Hi all
I followed the tutorial link using XP. A few attempts were needed.
I finally got the phone to a fully functional ipod touch. Unfortunately, the anySIM app was unable to allow any sim to be used!
After it has been through its attempt it returns " unable to unlock phone" "restart.
Trying to get Australian Vodaphone to work.
Any ideas, much appreciated.
