Hi, ive been waiting to buy the UK iPhone since it come out here, but im not sure if i should wait any longer as it may take alot longer for the unlock to be made available??

what would be the difference if i wait and bought a UK version and unlocked it or just buy a US version off ebay,

warranty wise? phone spec/ application wise?

If you want a quick solution buy a USA version on ebay and BE SURE it doesn't have the new bootloader... (it must have bootloader 3.9 so you'll be able to unlock it).

All USA week 44 (and earlier) versions should have the 3.9 bootloader (just confirm that it does come with 1.1.1), and you're almost 99% sure that it will have the old bootloader.

I really don't belive that we will have a software solution for this bootloader issue before mid-december... maybe later than that...

Perharps some people will be able to unlock with geohot hack in a near future, but it's a hardware hack, you'll need to open the iphone, and do a lot of things, and that SURELY isn't a easy thing.

Btw, the only thing on bootloader 4.6 is that it doesn't allow you to unlock.

All phones functions are in the firmware (1.1.2) and basenand (04.02.x), and you can upgrade than with old phones/bootloader (and unlock it, a thing you can't with new bootloader)

There is NOTHING better (up to my knowledge) in owing this new bootloader...

was hoping the unlock would be out the weekend gone, but have read around and a few people think it will be a month or so! ah man....

Buy a US version.

Keep in mind and if and when the full unlock comes out for 1.1.2 OTB UK and US versions, due the fact that it is a different bootloader, there will be a lot of trial and errors with the unlock. out of every 20 that try to go with the instructions about 15 will get them wrong and will be stuck.


Not trying to sounds rude but read the other post. It's always the same questions, most people did not follow the correct instructions.

so I say go on ebay. Go with a seller that has a good history of selling iphones.
and buy one from ebay also make sure that they have the phone in stock and ready to ship.

most stores are no longer have the 1.1.1. version. I should know. I purchased over 2 dozens iphones over the weeked at different locations 26 version 1.1.2 and only 4 version 1.1.1

I had a quick question, we had bought a few iphones previously and when we went to buy another one last week they told us no sorry you have already bought 2 you can't buy more.

Do you know how they know if you have already bought it? Is it the name or the credit card?

Bought a US one unlocked, what the hek aye!!

in my area, they have these people that walk around with a hand held scanner. Go to them and they can process the order. Also a good rule of thumb is use another credit card after 2 purchasses. I have a commerce bank account and they give you the debit card on the spot with a visa logo.

so you can always go back to commerce and keep changing your debit card.

works for me every time.
