Why would you want to erase baseband?

Yes that is an excellent question. I've been baffled by the existence of this option since it first appeared in ZiPhone. Why would an end user want to erase?

If you broke it trying a Geohot IPSF-like unlock or other unlock (like I did) this is a useful option as it will erase it and iTunes will be forced to load a new one in when you restore.
