So does anyone actually know whats going on here? This 3.8 thing seems to be somewhat strange. How come nobody has ever reported it before?? Did the original iPhones ship with the 3.8BL?? Or is it just a failsafe incase your phone is screwed??
iPhone 3G 16GB Black 3.1.3
MacBook Pro 10.6.3

Of the 8 firmware versions to date, only 1.0.0 and 1.1.1 have the earlier bootloader files in them:
% find . -name "BOOT*fls"
./1.0.0/work/ramdisk/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.01_M2S1.fls
./1.0.0/work/ramdisk/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.08_M3S1.fls
./1.0.0/work/ramdisk/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.09_M3S2.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3629/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.01_M2S1.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3629/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.08_M3S1.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3629/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.09_M3S2.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3630/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.01_M2S1.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3630/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.08_M3S1.fls
./1.1.1/work/ramdisk3630/usr/local/standalone/firmware/BOOT03.09_M3S2.fls

Can anyone confirm if 1.1.4 has bootloaders file in its repository because i downgraded to 3.9Fbl using iplus but i had a problem later on and I restored again to 1.1.4 . Is it possible my 3.9FBL to be overwritten with the 3.9 stock one?

I wonder if part of the problem could be caused by using newer versions of iTunes to restore with older IPSW restore files. If their was some sort of bootloader check and upgrade logic in the older pre 1.1.1 files maybe the newer versions of iTunes are not handling it properly.
Has anyone with this 3.8 bootloader problem tried downgrading to iTunes 7.4.2 and re-applying the 1.1.1 update?

Ok, so I have here a 16Gb (Serial:88808...) dont know the week here. But i think its 08 since its 16Gb one.
- So if i decide to downgrade my bootloader to 3.9FB, should i follow acujo tutorial and in the end, after flashing 03.14.08 files to it, restore to 1.1.3 instead of 1.0.2 (which i think it wont restore)?
-And another thing, is it really necessary to flash 03.14.08 files?Cause i was thinking in flashing 04.03.13 files on it. Or maybe dont flash anything. Just restore and itunes do it for me.
-What FW should i be to downgrade the bootloader?
Thanks,
Abras

No - of course NOT! Apple would never consider changing the BL of ANY iPhone! For this reason - the firmware CANNOT and ever will do any changes to the BL!
Also, I am currently using 3.9FBL on 1.1.4 NO problems!
My only question is this - will it brick my iPhone if I install BL4.6F on a 1.1.4?
PS: WOW my first post!
