Smile The Big Time Guide...Live Life with 1.1.1 (All the new methods combined)

Hey whats up guys, i am making this thread for a couple reasons, one of them being the fact that i would like to have a thread to link to when a newer type of user has a simple type of question; instead of having to type out the same answers over again.

This guide is a compilation of the best ways to hack 1.1.1. It is the shortest, most used, safest, and all around best guide to virginize, jailbreak, activate, and unlock 1.1.1.

Follow the steps that apply to you...

    Step 1: Virginize

Follow this guide. (Yes that's it, it is confirmed working 100%)

Step 2: Jailbreak, Activate, and add Installer.app

(taken from CARNIVAL with few changes for this situation)

So now you have a virgin phone and you just updated to 1.1.1 using itunes (which is perfectly fine with a virgin). The phone is sitting in front of you plugged into itunes and it says to activate through itunes....

(i do this all with the at$t sim card that came with the phone in FYI)

    Getting the phone book:
    ----------------------

    1) Turn on your phone and 'slide for emergency' so you can reach the dial pad.

    2) Dial this number: *#307# and press the green 'CALL' button
    (as you're making a call)

    3) Your phone will start to ring. Don't pick it up just yet.

    4) Erase the numbers previously typed and type '0' alone
    and press the call again.

    5) You phone will be riging again, pick it up now an put on hold.

    6) Your phone will ring again, for this time you decline the call.

    7) After declining the call you will be brought to the main (unlocked) keypad.

    8) Just click the icon for 'Contacts' to go to the phone book. There you go!

Getting Network access and Downloading the Jailbreak Page:
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    1) Make sure you are close to a wifi network, we need internet connection

    2) You are now at the phone book, you need to create a new contact with any name

    3) In this contact you are going to add two URL's (Web addresses) in the record

    4) The first page has to be exactly: prefs://1F

    5) The second page has to be exactly: http://jailbreakme.com

    6) Save every thing

7)Open the prefs://1F url, set up wifi nice, press home (then move back a menu and set autolock to "never"

8)Get back to your contacts screen by pressing 0, then accept, then hold, then decline.

9)Press the jailbreakme.com url in the contact's url list

10)Now you're on the site, scroll to the bottom and press the button and you're all set.

    11) This phone will go back to the home screen. Dont touch it, let it refresh itself, it will start ringing. Answer it. At this point it should go to the springboard. In my case it froze, so i just restarted it (held power and home until apple logo appeared) and then it went straight to the springboard.

    Step 3: Unlocking

Ok so now you're sitting in front of your phone and you have access to all it's features, but it's still locked.

Go to settings, general, autolock and set it to never.

Open installer, update it if needed, download the following

    Community Sources
    BSD Subsystem
    Summerboard

Now go to the sources tab, and add this source: http://iphone.blurgle.ca/repo

You now can download anysim v1.1 (i always get it from all packages and it's usually at the top)

Run anysim (make sure to have another carries sim in it)

    You're unlocked!

    Problems that could happen:

Youtube doesn't work UPDATED! (thanks rjshearman

    1. Go to Installer
    2. under Sources folder, install Community Sources
    3. Under System folder, install BSD Subsystem
    4. in Sources icon (still in installer), add this source i.unlock.no
    3. Under Unlocking Tools folder, install YouTube Activation
    4. Under Unlocking Tools folder, install AnySIM
    5. Restart Phone, check youtube
    6. Run AnySIM (does not matter wich SIM card in)
    7. Restart iPhone and Uninstall AnySIm
    Method 2

install open shh from the installer and Winscp into your phone. (make sure you install the services app after to later turn of shh when not in use because it will kill the battery if left on)

To "winscp into your phone: you need to download winscp, find your iphones ip address. (settings, wifi, blue arrow on your network) Then enter that as the host name, root as the name and alpine as the password.

Navigate to /var/root/Library/Lockdown and copy the "3 youtube files" http://www.r*pidshare.com/files/5846...utube.zip.html over the other ones. (it will ask you if you want to overwrite them)

    Restart phone

    Youtube should work!

Again these methods were not invented by me, this is just my guide. I am merely putting all the newest and most reliable guides together and making it appeal to new users. The really thanks goes to sirzrx, brasuco, and the jailbreakme.com team.

Updated as of November 1st. I will be back to this thread frequently to help anyone with any hiccups along the way. I would love for this thread to be a sticky because i think it covers the areas that are most in question and could help reduce the amount of repetitive questions in this forum

Oh and one last thing, please read about things before you do them, you'll perform each step better when you have some knowledge and confidance about the subject.

    Very nice guide.

    Just 2 questions:

    1) Why do you need to install the BSD Subsystem in Step 3? Does AnySim 1.1.1 require this to run?
EDIT: After reading a few more posts it appears that AnySim does require the BSD Subsystem installed.

    2) Are you able to easily swap SIM cards after following this guide?

Am I missing something here? Is this supposed to be a link to the three files?

No biggie, but i gues it shoud say "locked" instead of "unlocked" in step 3. Just to clear things up for people doing this for the first time ...

Now it says "Ok so now you're sitting in front of your phone and you have access to all it's features, but it's still unlocked.

There is a link - just hover over the green text. I'm also guessing you need to change the *** to rapid-share as well (minus the -).

BTW - I have not tested this yet but have just found the following information on this forum:

Guys, after you activate/jailbreak your iphone with jailbreakme.com follow this steps to get youTube and AnySim:

    Dear All...

I am using a fresh out of the box 1.1.1 iPhone.

Using the jailbreakme method, after visiting http://jailbreakme.com and clicking on Install, I am supposed to be receiving a call.

I have tried multiple times, but the phone still does not ring... it just sits at the Slide for Emergency Call home page....

    Please help..

In my opinion, i think you should restore and try it again. You say it doesnt ring? Well do you see a little circle thing spinning? Like i said, restore and it should work

    Hi,

nice and helpful summary. Just one question: I played around with my 1.0.2 phone and tried to upgrade it. It did not work entirely but I ended up with FM 1.0.2 and Modem 04.01.13_G. I than applied AnySim 1.1 and all works (Youtube, SMS, Calls etc.). All I want now is update FM to 1.1.1. How do I go about this? Most virginize guides require the older modem version 03.XX so I should not use them. Do I simply choose update in iTunes or do I have to do something else?

    Thanks for any help.
    =======
    Thank You Steve!
    Cool Toy.
