Baseband modified? (how to find out?)
(I'm sorry if this has been posted here already — Is there a search box anywhere, btw?)
I unlocked my 1.0.2-upgraded iPhone following exactly every single step found in this particular tutorial: http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.ph...ck_OS_X_Part_1
The phone functions perfectly —incoming/outgoing call, any operator SIM, 3rd-party apps, etc.
Now, my question is, has my original baseband been modified? My IMEI number matches the one back of the phone and the modem version is 03.14.08_G.
Thanks beforehand for your help!

Ok, If I understand it correctly ........if you have an Iphone already with FW 1.1.1, or if your Iphone became bricked due to unlocking with Iunlock/AnySim, and then upgrading to FW 1.1.1, you can now restore and unlock your Iphone using jailbreak from Dev Team and IPSF.
But, what about us who did "not" upgrade to FW 1.1.1. and still have FW 1.0.2 and unlocked with Iunlock/AnySim? Has the Dev Team forgotten us? Will the phone base bands be forever ruined, and we will be forever in limbo?

To my understanding once the baseband has been modified it can't be re-virginized. I'm no hacker or code-writer, so my understanding is fairly limited.
I read a while back that the the DevTeam was working on a tool to set your iPhone to factory settings (getting your baseband back to norm). But this tool never came, so my assumption is that what was done to the baseband can't be undone, and will forever be affected by the 1.1.1. FW update by Apple.
I just hope that 3rd party apps that are released in the future are compatible with the 1.0.2 FW.

I am also interested in finding out about this - I used the same guide (http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.ph...ck_OS_X_Part_1) and my IMEI matches what is on the back of the phone. From what I have read the unlock programs like AnySIM create a different IMEI and that is what causes the bricking because AnySIM modifies the baseband - but then again how does unlock.app do unlock in this guide if it doesn't modify the baseband.
With that said, could I update to 1.1.1 without bricking the phone?
Confused...

This is the method I used:
http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6637
My IMEI number also matches what is on the back panel of the phone. I didn't get to use AnySim.

People your IMEI will always match on unlocked 1.0.2. It is in 1.1.1 when it will be reverted to default one, due to "corrupted" baseband.
If your phone is unlocked with anythig else than IPFS your baseband is modified in a way that 1.1.1 will treat as "broken".

Thank you for your explanation.

You could use minicom and +XLOCK to check your simlock status to see wether IPSF or the Geohot Hardware/Anysim hack was used. IPSF will alway return 5,0 for unlocked.
