I have unlocked tons of iphones from USA...

    week 44 = 1.1.1 with bootloader 3.9
    week 45 = 1.1.2 with boorloader 4.6

Maybe apple has changed something, but I don't think so...

The problem is NOT with 1.1.2, the problem is the bootloader... if you have bootloader 3.9 you can unlock ANY version (even 1.1.2 using anysim 1.2 from elite-team). You should be afraid of bootloader 4.6 only !!

The only thing you CAN'T unlock is the bootloader 4.6, as you can't (up to now) erase/update the baseband.

If you phone is 1.1.2 it DOESN'T mean it can't be unlocked, you must check the bootloader using "bbupdater -v".

All OTB USA 1.1.2 (WEEK 45) should have bootloader 4.6, but it is not impossible to someone find an old bootloader in week 45... who knows ? (I'm yet to see one.. but.. it isn't impossible, is it ?) I've heard some rumors about someone unlocking otb 1.1.2 on israel, maybe he got 1.1.2 with old bootloader, I don't know... What I don't belive is that someone is able (yet) to update/erase the baseband with standard tools (standard ieraser, bbupdater)... Please let me know if I'm wrong, I would be delighted to find an unlocked method for bl 4.6

hi everyone. just did the bbupdater -v on my week 43 (fortythree!) phone with the following result:

    # bbupdater -v
    Resetting target...
    pinging the baseband...
    issuing +xgendata...
    firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.02.13_G
    eep version: EEP_VERSION:208
    eep revision: EEP_REVISION:1
    bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:4.6_M3S2
    Done
    #

unfortunately, it really looks like that there *are* older phones out there with the latest bootloader ;-( two of them were purchased by me yesterday....

Is it possible that the guys in the Apple store really opened up the box, performed upgrade, and shrink wrapped it again? Week 41 is too old to have BL 4.6, isn't it?

that's my guess too, although both iphones were shrink wrapped inside and outside the box. whoever took them out spent probably more time rewrapping than upgrading the phones.
other possibility is that apple already prepared some of the old phones with the new firmware (seems european phones got their upgrade earlier, so the update was available) but did not sell them in the US until the official 1.1.2 release.

    Talking

This whole bootloader drama is driving up the wall!!

    Apple is officially gay! :p

Why can't those bastards just stick with ONE Baseband? ONE FW? and ONE bootloader??

Fine...fine...new bug fixes and improvements are always nice but why change the modem BB? Why the different Bootloader etc???

Am I wrong or does Steve Jobs officially suck??

Steve Jobs DIDN'T learn from his previous mistakes, and just keep doing it again and again... that's why apple never won and never will... People soon will get bored by iphone and lots of problems with new baseband/bootloader/etc and it will become a apple fan's-only-gadget...

It seems unreasonable to me to deny to sell phones in stores to people that have already bought 2 units... if you have the MONEY, them he should SELL IT, it doesn't matter if you're going to unlock it, break it or eat it....

He should be selling fully unlocked phones worldwide and earning tons of money... what does he do ? sell locked phones and a lot of people are earning tons of thousands unlocking and selling crap phones and will get bricked in the next upgrade...

That's the very same history happening again.... remember macintosh and powerpc ? it took him thousands of years to learn the ppc was doomed for the desktop...

When iphones is old history he will start selling unlocked phones (or maybe locked phones worldwide), by them everyone that wanted to buy a iphone will already own a unlocked one...

The only thing he didn't do YET is make itunes macintosh only, so you would have to own a macintosh to have an iphone... but it isn't impossible to happen hehehehehe

    Amen!

Very well said, but I disagree with him selling unlocked iphones....HEHE I'd be out of business right now!

Selling 2 iphones per credit card is also a very stupid thing to do. Luckily i have 12 credit cards and THREE yes 3 Apple stores in my town so it is all gravy
