Default Apple may fix your bricked / unlocked iphone.....I got mine fixed...

Ok guys I'm dead serious bout this. I sent my semi-bricked iPhone to apple and they fixed my phone! How did I get away with it? Restored my bricked iPhone again with 1.1.1....however I did the restore without the sim card...when the activation screen comes up it actually shows the real IMEI!! I guess apple sees that IMEI matches and they say OK and either fix or replace the iPhone! I used AnySim to unlock my iPhone and I guess apple didn't even see or detect the modded baseband. Just a little info for you guys...keep up the good work dev team...I REALLY WANNA SEE YOU GUYS JAIL BREAK THE F*** OUT OF 1.1.1!!

I just returned on of my 4 gigs, using mygirlfriend as the returnee. (she's hot!) the guy didn't even blink, he handed her a new 8 gig and charged her the difference!

That phone was modded up the wazoo!

Anyways, I did like theboss said, downgraded to 102, left out the sim, and the IMEI matched the number.

And BTW we are in San Francisco.

The reason I intentionally bricked our extra phone is to run tests on it.

I've been wanting to go into an Apple store just to try my luck with getting a bricked phone replaced, but I don't want to be blacklisted in their system, like some have said they've been doing.

If you go in without a SIM in your phone and they see that the IMEI matches, do they not have SIMs there to test it?

OK OK! here is Steve Jobs speaking: I saw your posts bragging about sneaking in modded / hacked IPHONES ( the cat and mouse game you know) and I instructed all personnel not to accept any exchange or return for any reason; thank you Hackintosh forum for bringing this to my attention, yes! keep bragging about your exploits publicly and I'll keep shutting you off!

    b) I returned an iphone for an exchange cause the first one had a dead pixel... it was unlocked, restored, but I restored it with the at&t card in it? what difference does the sim card make? Am i fucked?

My understanding is that it's the phone that's blacklisted, not you. If they changed out your unlocked phone for a new one, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

    Default What do you recommend?

I have a defective (dead strip - non-responsive screen), unlocked (anysim) iPhone that needs to be sent back to the Apple factory. Should I upgrade to v1.1.1 w/o sim card?

    I have firmware version 1.02

    Cheers!

I want to know the same thing too. I noticed that with without the sim card, the IMEI return to correct numbers, but what I'm affraid is that what if they have extra sim card and put it in iphone then restart it cuz if you restart the iphone with sim card, it will show the hacked imei number

Which apple store did you go for exchange? I'm in the bay area too.

    theboss,

let me get this straight. Did you return the phone to apple store WITHOUT the SIM card inside the phone , or you put it back in after the restore???
