But what about if you say the problem is in a OOB iPhone?
You are not required to activate a defective OOB device. Or you can even say that the problem (for example a touch screen dead strip) did not let u actually complete the activation proccess. I doubt they wouldnt service the phone.

I didnt try the restore. But as already known the restore of the same firmware installed does not touch the baseband. So it will still unlocked.

kerpalz, I don't have a Mac - so this is my best guess.

    But, grab Independence from here:
    http://code.google.com/p/independence/
    or iFuntastic here:
    http://www.iphonealley.com/disknode/...0.zip?download

and then follow the instructions here:
    http://iphone.unlock.no/old2.htm

Only whenever it says use iBrickr to move the files, use Independence instead.

    Folks,

here is a small step-by-step guide for users on 1.1.1:

    • Assuming that you have Installer.app (you can use the version on their website even if they state that it is not compatible with 1.1.1) - Don't use the AppTapp installer, instead get the Installer.app from the AppTapp.app-Package!
    • Install it manually using SFTP or iNdependence
    • Open it and install the available update to the latest 3.0bx.
    • Install the BSD Subsystem.
    • Free the /dev/tty.baseband resource by doing /bin/launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist .
    • SSH into your phone, then execute minicom -s, go to Serial Port Setup and press 'A' to change the modem. Enter /dev/tty.baseband . Press the return-key and then escape-key to get into the console.
    • Type AT+XSIMSTATE=1 . And you should get the info you need.
    • Press CTRL+A then CTRL+X to leave minicom.
    • Start CommCenter again by executing /bin/launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist .
    • You should be all set now.

    Personally I get the following:
    Code:
    AT+XSIMSTATE=1
    +XSIM: 2

    +XLOCK: "PN",1,0,"PU",5,0,"PP",5,0,"PC",5,0,"PS",5,0

    OK

Someone's got to tell me if this is good or not.

I get the same readout, after doing the Virginizing method. I'm still running 1.0.2 though, see no real reason to upgrade, just wanted to repair the damage from the original anysim

    Default LOG from iPhone!!

    writing logs to: /Library/Logs/Baseband/

the log is en .txt so you can read it with textedit, in it theres also the XSIM og XLOCK

    and mutch more...

"4083338 sms: could not read voicemail count from SIM"

    "4082362 recv[call]: +XSIM: 2"

    "4082367 recv[call]: +XLOCK: "PN",5,0,"PU",5,0,"PP",5,0,"PC",5,0,"PS",5,0"

Hmm I can find it 4 places in the log... it's asking for the XLOCK all the time..

    "4080121 recv[default]: "DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.01.13_G","

    "4080121 recv[default]: "EEP_VERSION:207","

    "4080121 recv[default]: "EEP_REVISION:8","

    "4080121 recv[default]: "BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2",1,0"
4078648 rm: writing logs to: /Library/Logs/Baseband/log-2007-10-25-19-00-25.txt
4078670 evt: Sending event kNewLogsAvailable (139)

hmm there must be something that we can use the log for??

    Hi folks,

I have this problem. I ran anySIM on a OTB 1.1.1 but after I put my sim the signal went from high to low then No Service. So I did a restore and run the anySIM again but nothign happened. I did the restore and unlock again and still the same.

So I tried to reflash the bb by uploading bbupdater and ICE03.12.06_G.eep files into the phone and running the commands with mobile terminal. After that I put my sim and got No Service all the time.

So I did a restore and jailbreak and activated it and now when I change the sim I get the message Incorrect Sim.

So I really don't know what to do now. Should I run anySIM again?

Any ideas how to solve this problem please?

    Thanks in advance!!

    @akiacat

Thanks very much for that guide. I was looking for over an hour on how to find which software was used to unlock my iPhone(i got it from eBay).

By the way, I get the following output-

    +XSIM: 2

    +XLOCK: "PN", 4, 0, "PU", 5, 0, "PP", 5, 0, "PC", 5, 0, "PS", 5, 0

Can someone please help me interpret this?
Which software might have been used to unlock my iPhone, will it be safe for me to upgrade to 1.1.1 ?

    Thanx in advance.

    Question +xsimstate...

Hey all - I am too getting something Strange...
    AT+XSIMSTATE=1
    +XSIM: 7

    +XLOCK: "PN",1,0

So.... XSIM being 7 well, that's new, or is that the counter? ( I know it's the state of the SIM, but 7 i've not encountered on any list.

and so 1 is unlockable, but the second zero is valid sim.

BTW I tried... where did it go... I tried to turn off the commcenter.plist with those instructions mentioned earlier via putty and it froze the connection before I could even load minicom, and unitl I rebooted putty and the phone, to re-enable the commcenter thingy, my Iphone would constatntly reboot...
    I also ran Yellosn0w 9.8 AND baseband downgrader - I was at 2.9, now I'm at 2.8

Still rogers is restricted..... Speaking of carriers, now that I think of it... Here is a picture worth 1000 words, unfortunatly it is restricted network too... I live in Edmonton, AB Canada so I don't know which carrier it is, but during hard reset and a basebandowngrade and a yellowsn0w install yestarday I got a new carrier in my list...(not a Photoshop edit - it is gone today...)

    :fail:confused:
