The problem is that, somehow i'm not getting an IP Address when i do a field test. It (pdp0 in Filedtest) shows
Type: IP
APN: airtelwap.com
Address 0.0.0.0
One of the threads in this forum tells about configuring the 100.1.200.99 proxy for EDGE. But, since i'm not at all getting an IP assigned, there is nowway i can get the Proxy configured.
The strange thing is, i'm able to connect to the internet from the same SIM in another phone, without doing anything.
What i'm guessing is that, they don't put a phone on the "EDGE network" if they detect that the phone is not "supported", and they still don't support iphone.
Also, if i change the APN to something else, i don't get the "pdp0" at all, in FiledTest. So, APN IS correct.

you cannot use wap services in the iphone safari browser ....
try the address in my previous post and the internet should work fine.....
PS : you obviously need the "GPRS" service activated at airtel's end...but if you say it works fine on other phones then you wont have any problems
