It is speculated that the 4th and 5th digits of the serial number are the week of manufacturing. You can find the serial number at the back of the phone or from
    setting/general/about.

For example my serial number is 7V7 44 XXXXXX so the week number is 44.

Those who got a 44 WK phone can you put the few numbers of your IMEI and those with 44 WK with old bootloader can you post yours? Wonder if that can help determine the difference.

Yeah sure. I've unlocked around 11 week 44 iPhones. I only have two left to show you the IMEI. Here they are:

    Serial Number: 7V744EJNWH8
    IMEI: 01 136400 1*4794 *

    Serial Number: 7V744FGRWH8
    IMEI: 01 136400 1*1672 *

So all the newer phones seem to have IMEI starting with 0113 iinstead of 112 from old bootloader? Are both of your phones are new bootloader?

Load the bbupdater on your phone under /usr/bin and using Term V100 run the following cmd's.

    c1.- download bbupdater
    2.- copy to var/bin/ folder
    3.- chmod 755 atributes
4.- Run in a telnet session with putty bbubdater -v

I'm on mac, can I use putty? Or how else can I do this step? And it doesn't matter if the phones are on 1.1.2?
