Anyone got a number format mask file for UK numbers?
I notice that the number format mask file can be changed using these instructions.
Anyone already done this for the UK? How did it work out? Are you able to share your plist file?
Thanks

Bonzai, it works perfectly. Just make sure that you copy the UK array and overwrite the the information in the US section.

Can you share your plist file (please)?

Yeh I've done it. I'm on vodafone UK and it worked fine.
If you look further up the existing plist file there is an entry there for the UK. I just copied the contents of the section (about 5 lines of code) and then pasted it into the US section (deleting on the US entries). So the US ends up looking like this:
<key>us</key>
<array>
<string>0### - ### ####</string>
<string>00 $</string>
<string>0## - #### ####</string>
<string>+44 ##########</string>
<string>0#### - ######</string>
</array>
Probably a good idea to back it up first. You obviously need to convert it from binary first as well.

I'm in the UK and using mine on Vodafone... everything works perfectly - you can download my plist file HERE and see whether it works for you.
I've suffixed the file with .new since I keep all copies of replaced files on the iPhone... you need to copy it over to the iPhone without the .new suffix.
Edited to add - I can't remember who I got this from, it includes formatting for many countries, not just the US section - I don't claim to have made this myself. Also search this forum for the AppSupport patch that allows your phone to match up contacts if you're storing all contacts as +44 xxxx yyyzzz like I do. Use the 10 digit one as this will allow exact matching for London numbers.

Hey cyberface as you are on vodafone I guess it worth asking. Have you had any joy with the SMS Voicemail alerts? looking at some of the threads it still doesn't look like there is a solution.

I've got absolutely everything working *except* named SMS alerts... and nobody else has either AFAIK. Presumably an Apple bug.
However I heard from my Vodafone business account manager that they are in the process of switching over from callback / SMS voicemail alerts to the sort of system that Orange use (i.e. allowing the phone to display a 'voicemail' icon). I was on Orange for years until I switched to Voda last month for their data rates and to consolidate all the phones. Since the iPhone seems to work with Orange's system (i.e. displays number of voicemails in the red circle?) then the new Vodafone system may change things.
Then again, I've spoken to a techie at Vodafone UK and he had no idea what I was talking about. Then again he didn't express any emotion whatsoever when I told him I was using an iPhone on Voda (you'd expect some interest) so perhaps he was stoned at the time, he did sound a bit befuddled....

Bonzai, you may also want to apply the 8 digit caller ID fix. This is the thread I used:

yeh same here, everything apart from SMS Voicemail Alert. I've switched to 'Alert & deliver' which just calls you when you've got a message, but I find that a pain. If you leave the phone in the office and someone leaves a message on your voicemail, it constantly rings until someone answers the phone. People at work tend to get a bit annoyed!
I can't understand what causes SMS alert not to work. Do you think it's really short SMS numbers? on my nokia the source of the text message appears to be a full length number for the message centre, so I don't understand that.

Not sure of the problem here can you explain more?
I am on vodafone UK and when I get a voicemail the little red dot appears on the voicemail button and then shows numbers as the number of mail increase.
When the phone is locked it pops up with a "New Voicemail message" as well.
I have also modded the button so you just press it now and it dials voicemail.
I also just renegotiated my account with them and now have a 750mb a month data package on the phone, 750mins, 300 text and passport roaming for £38.
