any way to Virginize baseband using pxl?
i am currently unable to get out of the emergency screen, even using the method from jailbreakme.com and i.unlock.no with adding a new contact to turn on wifi and and a url for that contact
i am able to install software using iBrickr and i wonder if there is a way to re-virginize the baseband using iBrickr or some other interface on a windows machine?
i ran 1.0.2 unlocked and jailbroken for several months, just upgraded to 1.1.1 successfully using The Virginizer from installer app and then used iTunes to upgrade to 1.1.1.
i jailbroke 1.1.1 using the method from i.unlock.no to turn on wifi using the contacts setting from the emergency call screen - used anysim 1.1 to unlock 1.1.1 firmware with my T-Mobile sim card again, everything working perfectly
then i followed instructions on i.unlock.no to continue to upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and installed OktoPrep
installed jailbreak.jar
at any rate, after upgrading, came out of activation mode, and everything seemed to be working properly. however, when i tried running anysim 1.2u, the result said the phone was unlocked, but when i put in my t-mobile sim card, suddenly i got an error message about sim card on iTunes and from that point on, no wifi and no edge or phone service. the menu options on settings becamea faded gray color and i was not able to access. unfortunately, i wonder if there was one additional step here not listed on i.unlock.no - (in another forum there was a separate step to install BSD subsystem prior to anySim 1.2u)?
i tried several methods of restoring and downgrading to 1.1.1 and then 1.0.2 after that didn't work - each time the iTunes error message reading
"your phone cannot be used with iTunes because the SIM card is not installed You must insert your SIM card into your iPhone in order to activate it."
finally, with iBrickr i was able to install 1.0.2 successfully and jailbreak, but i can only install apps through iBrickr and I cannot get out of the emergency screen reading "Repair Needed iPhone cannot make or receive calls. www.apple.com/support" .
when i click on the little "i" button on the emergency screen, i get a pop up stating
IMEI unknown
ICCID unknown
repair needed
iPhone cannot make or receive calls
www.apple.com/support
is there any way to re-virginize the baseband using a pxl or something i can install from ibrickr? i installed installer app through iBrickr, but i cannot get out of the emergency screen in order to activate wifi or even to download virginizer on installer app.
right now i believe i successfully downgraded to 1.0.2 because iBrickr is telling me i have 1.0.2 now and it is able to pair with the phone and install software, also the DFU icon switched from the itunes/white cable logo to the yellow triangle logo, which reinforces the idea that i successfully downgraded to 1.0.2.
however, i'm not able to get out of the "slide for emergency" screen in order to run any apps, even the method of dialing *#301# and/or 0 does not work anymore, there is no response at all when i press the "call button" - maybe i need to borrow someone's functioning AT&T sim card in order to activate? any suggestion s?

your baseband is good. No need for virginizing anything ...
can you elaborate on your "emergency screen". Is it the "slide to emergency". or ??. what is it look like ?

yes it is the "slide for emergency" screen with the blue planet earth - when i tried checking the "firware" using *3001#12345#*
the "firware" setting is blank
when i try dialing *#301# or dialing 0, absolutely nothing happens

OK - that means your phone is NOT jailbroken or activated.
- you posted in another thread with 0049/bad imei ... - Stick with your thread, you will get better results. If I cannot help you, someone else will have all the info here to help you.
Now back to your prob.
If I were you, I would do the following:
- use itunes 7.4.3 or 7.5 on your computer.
- run itunes
- connect phone
- leave itunes running
- hold power+home at the same time, phone will reboot, when you see the apple appears, let go of power and continue hold home. After 10-15 sec, you will hear itunes beep and detect iphone in recovery mode.
- here you want to recover. hold shift and click on restore. select firmware 1.1.1 (iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw). Search for this firmware and download it to your computer prior to doing this.
- This will restore your iphone to 1.1.1
- When done, you will be at the earth/slide for emergency.
- if you are successful in previous step, now you need to jailbreak and activate your phone.
OK - I stop here for now.. We can pick it up later.
I need to get some sleep.

ok awesome, thanks dtube, i will try and post back the results! thanks!

ok i upgraded my iTunes from 7.4.2 to 7.4.3 and then went into recovery mode and tried restoring to the 1.1.1 firmware.
i got an error msg in iTunes The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (2003).

i just tried using iTunes to restore 1.0.2 and i got the following error message:
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1012).
-
following the error message i was able to use iBrickr to get to the same point i was at previously.
basically i have a locked, unactivated 1.0.2 phone that is unable to make or receive *#301# calls but is jailbroken to the extent that i can install apps (installed PXL daemon, installer, terminal and anysim) and replace system files using iBrickr, but not able to get out of the activation/"slide for emergency" screen - perhaps there is a way to activate 1.0.2 by copying some relevant system file onto my pc and then modding and replacing it on the iphone?

i tried using app tapp installer (selecting firmware 1.0.2) and it runs through all 16 steps and indicates the result successful, but in the end i am still at the activation/"slide for emergency" screen with an error message
"repair needed iPhone cannot make or receive calls www.apple.com/support."
could this be a result of not turning off airplane mode after attempting to run anysim 1.2u when i was in firmware 1.1.2? i can't figure out why i cannot use the *#301# hack, even though i can use *#3001#123456 to check my firmware version (unfortunately it says firware blank)
-
could it be that my old at&t sim card that came with the phone is expired in some way? (i bought the phone back in september and never used the phone on AT&T)
