    It's quite simple:

All you have to do is to put a valid Device certificate in the following two files of your iPhone
    /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records/1234567890.plist
    /var/root/Library/Lockdown/data_ark.plist

Afterwards, copy these two files to your iPhone (replace existing ones):
    /var/root/Library/Lockdown/device_public_key.pem
    /var/root/Library/Lockdown/device_private_key.pem

    Restart and enjoy.

You even can skip the data_ark.plist, because with the next boot, the Device certificate in data_ark.plist is overwritten with the one from activation_records anyway.

Have you done this on 1.1.1? I was thinking about this last night during the glow of my successful 1.1.1 upgrade and activation, but haven't yet ventured back into the phone to try it. IIRC, though, when I tried to simply replace the magic YouTube files on 1.0.2 I had some problems, and wound up using someone's script/program that installed the magic files but also installed the factory-activated lockdownd file that can't be used during the 1.1.1 upgrade process.

Do you have those files provided for the "valid Device certificate"??

Goody! Looks like I can blow off more productive work and family time! I'm rapidly getting to the point where people are asking my why I'm doing all this just to avoid ATT. I must admit, I like T-Mobile and dislike ATT, but I'm not sure if that like/dislike really justifies all the time and effort I put into this stuff. Except, of course, that it's kind of fun and there is something supremely satisfying about using the iPhone in a way that Apple and ATT specifically don't want me to.

From an older thread about activating YouTube on 1.0.2 iPhones:

recover the 3 files (I think he means track down the 3 files you need -- they're floating around somewhere)
    scp the .plist to /var/root/Library/Lockdown
scp the device_private.... to same -- (can't recall if the PEMs are really necessary)
    scp the device_public.... to same

go into the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records directory and delete any files in there. If the directory is empty, you've no doubt patched your Lockdownd ) If there is a file, get rid of it and you'll need to reactivate you're phone after the reboot.

    Reboot the phone.
    Reactivate the phone (if required).

Okay. Since I'm already activated on 1.1.1, I SSH-ed into my iPhone to check on whether there were any activation records, and of course there is one that's related to my current T-Mobile activation (it has the ICCID number of my T-Mobile SIM in the filename).

My theory is that I would have to scp the magic files (I think I have them kicking around on my hard drive somewhere) on to my iPhone, and then go back and re-do the activation process using iASign (and switching the lockdownd files back and forth).

That's the plan. If anyone has done this already and can confirm this is how to do it and it works, let me know. If not, I'll report on my findings.

I can't seem to get this working - I tried this: http://www.ging.co.nz/youtube.php - overwrote the 3 files and added in the certificate in my .plist - but no luck - any ideas?
