    Default Another aproach

    Hi,

It's possible to pay to AT&T for unlock the iPhone?

    If answer is yes...

We can donate the amount needed for that, then pay for unlocking to AT&T and dump the nor for get our hands on a real unlocked BB and compare it with the locked one.

    Just a different aproach...

    Regards,

    Taguapire.

when a phone is properly unlocked a token is added to the eeprom. This token is different for each phone and calculated from the imei number. IPSF is the only unlock that that uses this method. Att will not and do not unlock iphones. I doubt they even have the unlock algorithm, as they do not unlock iphones.

The dev community already has the nor dump from the new modem firmware, but need the secpack in original form to start making an unlock for the new 1.1.1 modem firmware.

In the past day Erica S. has found a way to get read access to the 1.1.1 filesystem meaning that the dev team can now get to the files they need.
but even then it seems like the activation has got more complicated, and finding the key to decrypt the firmware is still needed to jailbreak the phone.

All in all both jailbreaking and activation are needed before the unlock really, otherwise you can downgrade, and use a new unlock when it comes out but I imagine the dev team would rather do the whole process for the 1.1.1 so they can use the new firmware instead.

for now ipsf is the most complete unlock as it allows you to update to 1.1.1 without bricking the phone. But no method including ipsf will allow you to use the phone because of the new activation is needed.

    Can I ask you something?

    What secpack does mean? and...

There is a law released by Congress Library where all phone carriers must provide the codes for unlock phones because these are a really important tool for students and a lot of crap more. BUT... any human being can ask for unlock his/her iPhone, I don't know how works the law in USA, but I know about phone unlock stuff and The Congree Library.

Based in that fact, Why I can ask for unlock my iPhone, even paying to AT&T or Apple for get unlocked. Then BB can be analyzed for got a cracked it and bypass the unique token code for each iPhone, or even cooler, Generating those tokens for any Ipho.

ipsf already has the generator, and the baseband is not effected. the unlocking is in the eeprom. most telco's ask you to pay to get the unlock codes for your phones in some way. If you really want a iphone unlocked properly then just pay ipsf. Otherwise do it yourself using a baseband patch method. either way it gets unlocked. Just if you update with a patched baseband then apple made the update brick your phone. I don't think Ipsf unlock will ever be effected by an update as it still has a normal modem firmware in place and it seems to me that this method has the same effect as if you got it unlocked by apple. The phone is designed to be unlocked like any other phone, Im sure once it hits france there will be some sort of legal unlock, then apple won't dare relock a eeprom unlock with an update as It will relock legally unlocked phones.

    Jmmm,

Why the DEV Team does not do inverse engineering of IPFS software. I don't know if worths to keep the proud by hacking AGAIN a thing that another people alredy hacked. Go to the source, IPSF team found the right info, I don't know if they worked before with BB development team, but they had an competitive advantage that DEV doesn't have., (they knowed how to deal with the security scheme), only who was involved with the development of it system knows how to approach for hack it, Ask to Mitnick ;-)

DEV must be pragmatic go ahead, and sometimes there is not shame by take a shortcut; regards,

    Taguapire.
