Title pretty much says it all. I bought iPhone, made an ATT account. I plan on cancelling the plan. So my phone is functional at the moment (with ATT service). Every unlock method I see is referenced to NIB iPhones. Is there a simpler method for my situation? Or what is the best method in general for me to use right now?

what firmware version do you have installed?

Settings -> General -> About -> Version

If 1.0.2, I followed this guide http://www.freeiphoneunlock.com/guide/ to unlock my own iPhone for use on T-Mobile. NOTE: On a Mac, use iNdependence, SCP and Terminal (for SSH) instead of iBrickr, WinSCP and Putty. Otherwise the steps are exactly the same.


You'll want the Unlimited Data plan w/T-Mobile ($19.99 a month) on your plan, then you can use the EDGE settings specified at this wiki http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/T-Mobile_APNs (use the internet2.voicestream.com, with no Username or Password specified for the fastest/best access. The wap.voicestream.com server will work, but it is much slower.)

where do i find firmware 1.0.2? If you can't tell, I'm not very knowledgable about this stuff.

Go to modmyiphone.com Click on downloads on the top. There should be this thing that says firmware. Click it and download 1.0.2.
