In my opinion we should wait with bl 4.6 a little bit longer.
I have a strange idea that apple designed the new 4.6 bootloader upgradeable, just to have the ability to change it in a future version unlike the older 3.9.
So this makes a problem that all the new iphones that have the 4.6 are going to have an upgrade in the future. If this is true then the older bootloader is better as it is not upgradable, IF it is not. Also this could probably erase and a future GEOMOD bootloader and we are going to have a new 4.6 type disaster, where everyone is going to hack from the beginning.
On the other hand if the phone is changed to the 3.9 bootloader. The phone cannot be verginized and become 4.6 for the reason that someone wants to use its warranty (to give it at an apple store for repairs) there is going to be a problem that this SN has the the older BL.
So in my opinion the 3.9 BL is better for the moment for the everyday use but bad for warranty reasons.

So, if it's perfectly safe to install 4.6_GEOMOD, use it until and if some check is performed by Apple. At that time, you can revert back to whatever you like. The principle is simple: it is reversible.
Let's wait until 4.6_GEOMOD has seen the lights;-) On the other hand there is one point speaking for BL3.9 i didn't mention before: Until now a BL4.6 phone can only unlocked if the modem is downgraded, as the unlock on BL4.6 needs a secpack with a higher version number than the actual fw has. Until now we were lucky that 1.1.3 was happily working together with 04.02.13 - but it is not sure that this will be true for a future software/modem version. As soon as a sw version relies on the features of an included modem update, BL4.6 phones are locked out again - except 4.6_GEOMOD is available - or the BL is downgraded to 3.9.

now, if we are talking about baseband, that would a better reason, but then still, if you downgraded the BL your should not be worry about anything then, right? and if that answer is yes, about what? Apple will still support it...
btw could someone explain me this? it's from ZiPhone's help menu...
so why people have their iPhone unlocked with iPSF, running at latest baseband (4.03) with no problems execpet the signal.app running at every boot? shouldn't the phone complain then?
I restored a Dev-Team upgraded 1.1.3 BL3.9 iPhone with Geo-ipsf-style unlock in iTunes 7.6 to 1.1.3 and ran ZiPhone - and the phone was unlocked and is working without problems. Of course i have a backup of my seczone - but i didn't need it for the restore/unlock.

anyway, will there be a chance for those with ootb BL3.9 (or downgraded) to get the bootloader upgraded via software?

Hey Guys, I have a OTB 16 1.1.3 unactivated new iphone, I want to downgrade the BL 4.6 to BL 3.9. I have the Ziphone Ver 3.1 software with the check option for downgrading the BL. Can I check the Jailbreak, Activate, Unlock and the "Downgrade Bootloader" option altogether to do the job. Please someone reply.

Hi guys,
Sorry if it's been asked before, but if for example when i am downgrading the bootloader with the latest ziphone and suddenly the electricity went out (no power to the computer, but the iphone battery still has some charge), will the process be interrupted and the iphone bricked forever?
i noticed that with the latest ziphone you can see command lines on the iphone screen (unlike the older version), does this means everything is uploaded onto the phone first before anything is done, so if the usb cable is suddenly unplugged it'll still be fine?
one more thing, with ziphone 2.4 GUI developed by Frederick, what does the refurbished option do? is it -e -D? Does -e also downgrade the bootloader if it's currently 4.6?
thanks guys!

That's about the twentieth time you have posted that. Get a life.
I'm staying with 4.6 for the moment:
- Downgrade to 3.9 is irreversible
- Downgrade may void the warranty (so if my battery turns out to be dead after three months use...)
- Downgrade may make it impossible to go to a custom bootloader later
- The downgrade process is risky and may brick the phone
- No significant benefit right now - 3.9 is better only if I accidentally update to 1.1.4 (which doesn't exist) or want some more ease with Google Maps location on 1.1.3 (but I prefer 1.1.2 anyway).
iPhone 3GS / 3.1.2 JB (PwnageTool) / 04.26.08 carrier-locked, Carrier Logo Fixer / Cydia / 1000 posts on Hackint0sh
Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
