at this stage, any iphone on the market will work unlocked.
Ideally get one made in the last 8 months, ( but thats a matter of opinion )

Any version should not make any difference as of today. If you get a fw 1.1.4, it will be better because you can just use Iplus program on your iphone straight out of the box to jailbreak, activate and unlock with a downgraded 3.9fake bl.

Usually you should plug your mobile phone for a day before using, to protect batteries. Is this necessary on iPhone? How long?...any one know

When you go to the Apple store you will not have a choice of which "version" (assuming firmware) you choose. Apple gives you a look at one phone; you get a chance to look at it and if you do not want it then you do not get to buy any. If you like that one, you can purchase that one and only that one. Sorry, but that is the way they have done it.

    Here are the facts:
    - Apple has records of which iPhones have been activated through AT&T. They can bring up this information based on your serial number or phone number AT THE STORE or OVER THE PHONE
