    Default [Advice] best unlock method for 1.1.4 ?

    Hey guys

    in the past i read that ziphone could cause problems with future upgrades due to locking the baseband and also setting the same mac address to every phone unlocked with it. Im looking for an unlock method which is future proof and will allow me to upgrade to 2.0 when it comes out with ease. Im pretty sure my iphone is 1.1.4 OTB because it was purchased from the US and shipped about a month ago. I know this might be a stupid question but i looked on iclarified and i could no longer see the iplus guide so i was wondering what was the best current method?? Additionally, could someone put up a guide how to do a proper restore(including how to put it in the right mode) because ive read that its critical to restore before you unlock even if you have the right FW. Sorry if this is a noob question i just couldnt find a definitive guide to everything in one place! T

    Thanks alot

    By the way i have both a PC and a MAC so i can unlock it with either, but i use the mac as my main computer. Does it matter if i unlock it on a PC and sync it with a MAC? I have all my itunes and podcasts on my mac so thats the main computer i use.

    Anyways cheers!

    Just use iLiberty+, iPlus or PwnageTool.

    There are Stickies in this section and in PwnageTool section as well.
    You can read them before deciding which solution fits your needs.

    @destilji
    till abt a few days back i was in the same boat as u r right now..
    from watever i have read on all the forums:
    use pwnage 1.1 (MAC)
    its the best solution right now..pwnage shud let u j/a/u FW 1.2 as well..
    read the Pwnage Tool FAQ and How to guide sticky in the pwnage tool section..also go thru the tutorial relating to 1.1.4 FW unlock using pwnage on hackthatphone.com..

    all the best..

    DFU restore with firmware 1.1.4 and then pick any one of the tools mentioned above. I would use iplus 2.0b (my choice because I'm familiar with it) or iLiberty (not the lastest version) or pwnage (on MAC - don't use winpwn). STAY away from ZIPHONE by all means.

    Why not the latest iLiberty?

    because the latest version of iLiberty installs Cydia as default (and fake BSD) which you can change. For newbie, I think it's better to use the previous version so that way they will get installer and less confusing for them. BTW, nothing is wrong with latest version....

    Having Installer instead of Cydia takes just one more step with the latest version. I don't think it's too complicated even for a newbie...
