[Advice][1.1.4 OTB] Unlocked with iPlus Need to take back to O2
Hi People...
Need some advice here. I have a 16Gb iPhone that I bought about 2 weeks ago from an O2 store. Unlocking / jailbreak went fine, phone works great.
The only fly in the ointment is I seem to have the negative black screen issue - which is pretty annoying when you've spent a lot of money on a device that is supposed to play video!
So because I haven't activated the iPhone in the official manner, to take it back to O2 to get a replacement I need to get the iPhone into a state where it won't boot, so when I go into the shop I can tell them that when I took the phone out of the box, it just wouldn't boot - hence why it's not activated.
So any ideas on how I can get the iPhone into a non-booting state? - Every time I've unlocked my iPhone it's always worked, so I have no experience of the continuous apple logo etc etc.
I've also heard a lot of people saying that the negative black screen issue seems to be the norm now... is that the case?
Comments welcome!

I read some place that 2sec in microwave does the trick (no longer thank 2sec!!!!). The phone would then not boot up, but look fine.
Try to search a bit about it in case there are some details I missed

Thanks for the reply... I've read that about sticking it in a microwave for 2 or 3 secs - but I doubt I'd do that!!
If I can get it into a state where it doesn't boot using a soft method, that would be best IMO.
If you were doing a restore via iTunes, and you unplugged the cable during the process - would that create a non-booting iPhone?

Hi,
Do this... download the new iliberty+, then use the upgrade 3.9FB to 4.6 BL payload, then restore in iTunes an then activate it with iliberty+ (just activate, not jailbreak).
Go to the store show your problem and you'll get a new one.
Greetings

I'll certainly give that a go... but what state does that put the iPhone into? Will it simply not boot if you do that?

how about leaving a hair dryer on at max pointed to the head phone port for a few hours .....

That puts the iphone in a virgin state, as if you just bought it and only activated it without unlocking nor jailbreaking.
So that in the O2 store you can show them your negative black screen issue without them knowing that you did anything to the software.

where do you download the payload?

I thought about doing that... but then they might just say "How did you manage to put your videos etc on it without activating it, we can see on our records that you haven't activated your number yet"
If I can just get the iPhone into a state where it simply won't boot - then there's no room for argument.
Does anyone know if unplugging the USB cable during a restore will get it into a non-booting state? (I would have thought that is the case....)
