4GB iPhones

I have 2 x 4GB iPhones due tomorrow .

seeing as Apple discontinued the 4GB iPhones what are the chances that they have the old firmware installed.

Or is this a stupid question ??

I would have thought that there is a greater chance they are than the 8GB model

Will find out tomorrow anyway

lets hope that the updated unlock arrives soon.

i don't think apple will rewrap old stock and update its firmware. i got 4gb 2 days ago and it's old firmware

do u mind telling me where u get 4gb version?

My friend in Delaware bought them off Apple's website for $299 each

Then mailed them to me by Fedex

Ok... the way it works is this.
Your serial number contains several digits in alphanumeric form.
For finding out the FW version we know this.
A) That 1.1.1 FW Update appeared in production week 39 of the iPhone
B) That the 4th and 5th Digits of the serial denote the phones week of production.

For example I have a 4Gb iphone with serial # 7R732xxxxxx
Meaning my iPhone was produced on week 32

If you get a phone with a production week of 38 or less you are guaranteed to have a pre 1.1.1. FW.
The problem comes aroung week 39... where Apple released the FW update mid week of production week 39.

But yes... I think you are guaranteed a pre 1.1.1 by purchasing ANY 4GB model as they cancelled the 4Gb model sometime during week 37-38

Guys, i've been trying to get a 4G iPhone for the passed 2 weeks now. Check apple refurbished section everyday but didn't find any.

May I ask where did you all purchase yours??? and how much???

Any guide/tips would be very appreciated.

i think now Apple stopped selling 4GB at all ..
it is totally out of stock now ..

Just took delivery of my 2 x 4GB iPhones

Both made week 33 and have correct firmware to allow hack

also it appears (i already buy 2 4gb iphones) that all of them are previous of week 39... so its safe to assume that they are 1.1.1 free....
