[2G] Iphone no longer needs activation
Hi Guys,
I had recently started to have issues with my Iphone which i bought in Apr08 from O2 shop in UK.
I went to O2 who redirected me to Apple. They replaced my iPhone immediately [my faulty one was not jailbroken or unlocked, just activated though iLiberty]
Anyways, new shiny Iphone, came back home and connected it to iTunes directly [without any activation etc]. Activated using iTunes 7.5 with my Pay as you go sim in it and it worked like a charm.
The whole motive is that if you own a 2G iPhone and want to use it on official carriers without unlock / activation etc, then you can do so:hack:

So u are saying.
If i bought an EDGE iphone in USA.
And want to use with an official carrier
from my country (Argentina).
I just need to put my sim card and it will
activate and unlock alone?
Are u sure? Or I didnt understand?

No, its says activate, not unlock which is different.
However, if this is true, you can unlock and restore, so you got
a "legit" activation.
