2G bb stopped at 04.05.04_G, do you mean a 3G iPhone? if So yes you can unlock it with ultrasn0w

No, i def mean 2g. It was updated to 3.1.3 via iTunes and couldnīt be unlocked or jf afterwards due to new baseband.

The 1st iPhone (also referred to as the 2G due to it's support of 2.5G GSM network) stopped at 04.05.04_G with iOS 2.0 as @alpineflip said.
If your iPhone reports baseband as 5.12.01 then you have either a 3G (the 2nd generation iPhone) or 3GS (the 3rd generation iPhone). Either way you unlock it with ultrasn0w.
