Default 299.5 MB for others after deleting the bin file

Guys, I managed to get rid of the 300MB bin file using iPhone Browser,

but i still see it using up 299.5MB of space for my others. (Its 598.4MB before deleting the bin file)

It isnt the softupgrade file, but i just couldnt figure out what they are

And i dont really think that my mail, sms, notes, calendars, webclips & a wedict will use up that much space.

Can anyone of you lemme know how to get rid of these rubbish?

    Thx in adv =)

    Now I found soo many 3mb, 4mb, 6mb & 9mb files in this directory:

    - private\var\root\library\caches\installer

And I think its the main reason why my other speed up to 299.5MB

It doesnt really uninstall everything when you uninstall it like that from the installer.

Guys, what should i do with the caches? Kill them?

What will happen to my WeDict, LocateMe 0.5 & the colour of my chat balloon then?

Yes, I have the same problem, I have been on the look out for a "tidyup" app which would safely remove these files (or any other left over from the Nate's Jailbreak process).

I have jailbroken 3 times and each time I get just about the same amount left over.

    1st jailbreak (Nate's) - 192.6MB "Other"
    2nd jailbreak (Official) - 189.3MB "Other"
    3rd jailbreak (Official) - 196.2MB "Other"

    WHAT CAN I DELETE?????????????

under ~/media/ I found a directory /touchfree, fill with lots of stuff similar to BSD functions and a DISK I do not know if this is a Virtual link, but there are shell sripts there from the installation (install.sh)

I used ijailbreak mobile to install which uses Dev team official Jailbreak directly on the phone. i do show too 200+ MB of "other" and can't find them anywhereelse but in this directory

    asistance ?

    regards

hey i realized that webclips really use up much space. but its okay for me if im using it =)

I managed to delete everything in the following directory : private\var\root\library\caches\installer

also found that the installer doesnt really delete everything related to the particular app even though you uninstall it. I still see some files which belong to some app that i've already deleted years ago.

After deleting these stuff my others dropped from 299.5 MB to 268 MB.

but then it went up to 280.5 MB after a few days of refreshing sources & a little customization of the colour of chat balloon & carrier name.

and by the way, your others increase once you refresh your sources.

dont know if its true, there will be a 1MB of difference for every video that you sync from your computer to your iPhone, as there are some captions & other info for every particular video. My friend told me this a week ago.

He also mentioned that the storage for others will drop if you delete those which you arent using in the media directory. I believe that this is the main reason that slows down the processing speed of one's iPhone, whether it hangs more or crash more.

Anyone who came across this please let us know, i'm dying to get rid of my others though my phone's still working fine as before =)

I'm on 1.1.3, by using nate's jb method.

im using an unlocked, official jailbroken 1.1.3. after looking on the apple.com discussion thing, even people that havent jailbroken/ unlocked (in other words, totally official, legitimate people) are experiencing this 200mb thing. Its meant to be something to do with itunes 7.6 and iphone 1.1.3. Hopefully they will fix this in an iTunes update and not an iPhone one!

If it makes things better, I have to say that the 200mb might be an iTunes bug, since I managed to fill my iPhone's memory up to the point that "Other" was strangely reduced to 130mb... when I deleted the additional songs and videos "Other" reclaimed its room. Weird things happen out there...
