I'm thinking of whether to try this, activate through O2 Pay As You Go then replace my Vodafone SIM. If I decide to do it, I'll post back to say if it works.

@anonymouse91: I just did it... works, oh... kinda... I'm unlocked (you can get the unlocked BB on my previous post) but I could not get my phone to activate using a PAYGO O2 simcard Maybe because my phone is a US version and the ICCID don't match O2's

Any other ideas on how to activate?

Well so far, so good. Thanks addario for the unlocked BB files. Its currently verifying the update.

EDIT: It finished and I have successfully activated it with O2 Pay As You Go. Its now restoring a backup. Once its finished, I will double check that the unlock was successful.

I have a AT&T pay as you go sim card in my iPhone at the moment. Unlocked and activated through iLiberty. If i upgrade to firmware 2.0, can i get pass the activation screen? Somebody said that it only checks if you have a sim card from a official carrier, and i have a AT&T sim with PAYG.
    Thumbs up if i helped.

Can you please confirm whether your iPhone was UK or US? I have an O2 SIM, but a US-sourced iPhone, and it won't allow me to activate (SIM not recognised error in iTunes).

Its a UK iPhone. I don't know how other iPhones can be activated for the time being until Pwnage is released. If there was a way to change the device's ID to make it seem like a UK iPhone (mentioned in another thread), it would be possible to activate a non-UK iPhone, I think.
