[2.0][Belgium] Upgrading with Mobistar ?
Hi,
Been reading various threads and wonder about the following: I have a 1.2 2G iPhone I unlocked, jailbroke to 1.3 using Ziphone, without touching baseband:
hardware info:
serial: 7V746
wifi: 00:1E:52
modem firmware: 04.02.13_G
bootloader 4.6_M3S2
Since I have Mobistar SIM, the official carrier for Belgium, will it be safe to DFU to 1.4 and then upgrade to 2.0, counting on the registration server to recognize the Belgium official SIM ?
Or am I just hoping ? ;-)

Since in Belgium not only Mobistar is an official operator, but also proximus and all others and above all that it seems that the "Belgian" iPhone is completely unlocked, which means that it can be used even outside Belgium with non-Belgian operators, I would say don't try it because I had two attempts yesterday which were fantastic in their failure
I had two successful 2.0 upgrades which led to the message, unoffical operator sim bla bla bla
I could be mistaken but i reckon that the firmware for the 3G iPhone differs from the first gen iPhone and that it still has the operator lock for the original countries.
But if you do want to give it a try, you can pm me if you encounter any problems.

I am though running with a problem: I paid and downloaded Monkeyball and AIM and both of them start to the main screen of the application and then returns to the home screen. Very weird.
Youtube works fine via Wifi as well as applestore. The phone has no service as I have no number on this SIM. My iPhone is now locked but I don't care as I wasn't using it as a phone (I returned to my Blackberry).

That is what I fear. Better wait for new Pwnage or iLiberty. Don't get how he got unlocked with original SIM without activation process. I could try my AT@T Sim but I do not feel lucky... ;-) Thx for good info.

It seemed that UK o2 sim cards can get trough the activation process without a problem, some AT&T sims have been successful and some didn't
