12a. Reboot the iPhone.
13. and then type this:
getfile /etc/fstab fstab
I need to reboot my iPhone to get the 'rw' in fstab.

I'm at step 28 where I need to run winscp to copy the lockdownd file over to /usr/libexec.
winscp cannot connect - giving error "connection has been uxexpectly closed. Server send command exit status 127"
very strange ... I can ssh into the phone. I tried sftp but that did not work.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
working now. it was that file ref: 0 in the last part of running sshify-windows.bat .... I used this http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.ph..._1.1.1_Windows to fix it.

LA20,

I managed to revirginized my phone, upgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, activate & unlock.
Everything is looking good & working on t-mobile .....

LA20, i followed your guide and got every step ok, until i got to the last few step (step 28), after i copied the patched 1.1.1 lockdown file over, its supposed to get me past the activation screen right? how come im still stuck there? any thing/steps (e.g using ssh, putty to check) i can do to check what i did wrong?
or am i supposed to go get an activator from iasign?
p.s. thanks for your wonderful guide btw
I guess I shouldn't remove the previous steps then? Can someone who has done this from scratch confirm with the patched lockdownd 1.1.1 ?
relax ok, your iphone is fine, it's not bricked or anything, it's just a small step.
Why don't you try the killall method. I will repost the method.

Hi LA20, thanks for your reply. Im restoring to stock 1.1.1 fw to try your guide all over again..will post my results up again.
btw just to check, your patched 1.1.1 lockdownd file is modified (i.e can get us past activation screen) right? cuz i did backup my original 1.1.1 lockdown file and compared it, found that the file size is exactly the same..
Pardon me for my n00b qns here, but i assumed that a patched 1.1.1 would differ in file size?

I can confirm that it works.
I just done this from scratch with the patched lockdownd 1.1.1
I did this on my re-virginized phone.
prior to scp lockdownd to /usr/libexec, my phone was not activated (had that slide for emergency crap). After the lockdownd file is there, no more of that.
another note: I skipped step 24 entirely, not on purpose ... I was not paying attention :-)

not necessarily ... You can see that lockdownd for 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 are exactly the same size. you have to run something like diff to see that they are or are not binary the same.

I had the same problem. The solution is easy: On the WinSCP-Connect-Screen just change the connect-method from "SFTP" to "SCP" and you can continue.

To simplify this great guide, I have combined all required files with necessary modifications, and a couple more, into one file that you can downloaded from the links below. Folder names follow guide closely. A small contribution to what LA20 has done.

nobody is answering me. I restored twice now, It always says
zsh: command not found: mv
after typign in the whole mv /var/root/Media /var/root/Media.old
I tried on sshify-bat
I tried with installing , BSDsubsystem, openSSH, and sources.
whats up? why is this not working, I can connect to my iphone, but the mv command doesn't work
the first time I installed I used ibrickr, installed the things liek it says in the Tut here, I got a connection refused, so i googled, ran sshify-bat, i could connect
no mv command either
after the second restore, I installed with ssify-bat first, tried to connect, same error, then i installed the things from ibrickr, still the same error.
restore the iphone is really irritating for me, is there any way i can fix this?
