Default [1.1.4OTB] Persistent Spinner. NO DFU or RESTORE mode

Just got my 16GB 1.1.4OTB iphone.

ran iPlus1.2 jailbroke, activated and unlocked, everything was working fine, installed lots of apps, then followed this guide http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32402.

As soon as i installed Guitar Hero III and pressed the home button the littler spinner came up, but it stayed up. after 20mins i reset the iphone and held down the home button, but after about 2 mins of holding with just the apple logo showing i gave up, shortly after the spinner started again. and just keeps on spinning forever.

Is there any other way i can get into restore mode or DFU mode? i tried plugging it into the computer and having itunes running the holding down home + power. but it never goes into restore mode

Is there anything i can do???

    Thanks in advance

    SUMMARY so far

    VIDEOS:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9qEzEF-VU0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Flq9pSTUlbY - i reboot twice and it just stays off :S

The fact that it takes around 30-60secs for the spinner to come up may be pertinent

No sound when restarted and turned off or on.

Tried multiple usb cables, with dock and without.

Attempted to use Independence, iBrick, iPlus, ZiPhone to recognize the phone, none do

Using USB Prober in OS X shows nothing when the iphone is plugged in

Same thing happened to me a few days ago when I installed an update to an app.Had to restore the phone.

Put phone in DFU mode which is different than restore mode.

    Then restore to 1.1.4

    Go Here: hxxp://www.downloadziphone.org/ (Replace hxxp:// with http:// )

Download ZiPhone for your O/S either Mac, or Windows. Extract the package, run the ziphone gui. Plug your iPhone in, close iTunes if it auto-runs. Then in the ZiPhone program you'll see a few buttons to put your iPhone into different modes. For example if you want your iPhone put into DFU Mode, push the button in the ZiPhone program for DFU Mode.

I have this same problem with my iphone for some reason. No matter how many times or how many ways I try it I cant get my iphone into DFU mode, so I use ZiPhone todo so.

If ZiPhone doesnt work getting your iPhone into DFU mode for some reason, try this file, someone posted it in these forums.

Download This: http://rapid$hare.com/files/95112188/DFU.rar.html (Replace the "$" with "s")

Then plug your iPhone in, then open up iTunes if it doesnt already open. Wait for your iPhone to appear in iTunes, then leave iTunes open but minimize it.

Then go find that file you downloaded and extract it somewhere and then run the DFU.bat

    Hope this helps!

That is the problem, iPlus, ZiPhone and itunes, none of them pick up the phone, the spinner starts its infinite loop before any of the programs can recognize the iphone is there.

I cannot seem to get into DFU mode, the apple logo ALWAYS come up, even if i hold it for ages, or release the power button shortly after it coming back on. I've tried many variations.

I hold the home + power button for roughly 10 seconds, the phone either turns off and wont turn on again unless i release and press the power button, OR it just goes straight to the apple logo

I don't know how it is possible to communicate with the iphone if it can't even get into DFU mode

    Thanks for you replies though!

You could turn it off then plug it in let it load up and try and run any of the programs before it starts acting up

Have you read the tutorial I posted?

    Itunes must be running.
    Hold power+home button.
Release power button after phone shuts off but keep holding the home button.
If after 20 secs itunes still does not detect phone in restore mode then try again.

Phone will go in DFU.You just have to do it right.

Relax.Take a break and then try again.

I have tried that yes, I stepped back for like 15mins before

Itunes open, ituneshelper is even running, iphone is in the dock and connected, hold power + home for 5-10 seconds release power once its restarted or shortly after.

i can post a video of the process...?

Perhaps you could try on your phone, rebooting, booting up and trying to get into DFU mode whilst booting, perhaps its not possible, i hope not, maybe i need to step back further

You are obviously doing it wrong. You have to release the power button after it shuts off not after it restarts.Do a search for "DFU iphone" on youtube. There are a lot of videos available.Read the tutorial again.
