    Unhappy [1.1.4] ziphone, refurb, stuck

I have an OTB 1.1.2 Iphone. I upgraded to 1.1.4 when it came out and somehow it updated my firmware to 04.04.05_G. I want to downgrade the firmware but nothing I try works. I have tried the refurbish through Ziphone and I have tried using iLiberty. Nothing I have tried has downgraded the firmware. I also did a restore through itunes and after that it I still hadn't unlocked the phone or jailbroke it but I had a signal. I don't know if there is something that I can do to fix this problem or if I just have to deal with my phone the way it is. Also when as long as my firmware is 04.04.05_G my signal isn't good if I have one at all. That's why I tried a downgrade and restore. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it sooooooo much.

    To clarify

1.1.4 is the version of the firmware

04.04.05_G is the version of the baseband

When an update is done in iTunes to firmware 1.1.4 the baseband (if lower) will be upgraded to 04.04.05_G. This is normal. No need to downgrade your firmware or baseband.

If your phone isn't functioning properly a restore followed by a jailbrake, activate, unlock may be in order. I recommend iLiberty or the Pwnage Tool. In other words there are safer programs than Ziphone.

Read through the Pwnage FAQs and the iLiberty stickys before trying.

    Good luck

I try to restore the phone but it never retores completely. After I do a restore through itunes I still have a signal. I don't understand why that happens and what I can do to make it stop. Also my carrier never says my carriers name it say USA Extended Area. I'm also not receiving all of my text messages. I can send them but I can't always receive them. I just don't know what to do.

If you do a restore with itunes it's suppose to bring it back to factory settings right? If that's true I have an OTB 1.1.2 and it just keeps the phone at 1.1.4. I never get the factory settings back.

it restores the phone to factory setting of the latest firware.......restore will never bring ur iphone back to 1.1.2
to get it back to 1.1.2 u need to download the 1.1.2 firmware (link given in zihone) and u then need to hold shift and click on restore (for windows) or hold ctrl and click restore (for mac) to restore to 1.1.2

Okay I understand that now but what I don't understand is how I have a signal after I do a restore and I haven't done the jailbreak, activate, or unlock yet. Wouldn't I lose the signal once I restore the phone?

If you are on 1.1.4 wich is the latest FW itunes will not restore your baseband, only your firmware, the basband is the software part that take's care of everything in your phone that has to do with signals (GSM, WIFI and BT). The unlock happens on the baseband thats why when ever you unlock on the latest version and restore the nex time you just need to jailbreak and activate because the unlock will remain since itunes did not restored the baseband and thats whay you still see signal when you restore because your phone is still unlocked.

the only moment when itunes touches the baseband is when you are going up (not down) on firmwares example: if you are going from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 your FW will be restored and your baseband will be restored also and your phone will be locked again, same thing when you are going from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 etc...

    now,

if you want to go back to 1.1.2 you will need to reflash your baseband first (since itunes does not downgrade basbands) using iliberty to the baseband that correspond to the FW you want to downgrade to (in this case 1.1.2) after that you will need to shift+restore with itunes to 1.1.2

    hope theis clarify your question

In the iLiberty advanced tab you can download a payload called baseband eraser.

You may get a message saying "Repair Needed". This is normal.

Now you can DFU Restore to a firmware of your choice and you'll have a corresponding baseband.

Just curious, why do want to downgrade to 1.1.2 firmware?
