    Default [1.1.4] ZiPhone 2.5 - EDGE problem

    Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone could help me with this. I downloaded ziphone 2.5 and followed the instructions of restoring my iphone to 1.1.4 and then clicking the "Do it All" button on ziphone. Following all that, everything worked fine. I can make phone calls, receive them, send and receive texts, wifi and BT work great.. the only problem i'm having is that I have no edge internet. I've double and triple checked the settings and the settings (for t-mobile - internet2.voicestream.com) is right. It still returns the error of "Could not activate EDGE: You are not subscribed to EDGE" whenever I go to Safari and go to a website, try to update weather, check my email. All that works fine over wifi, just doesn't work over EDGE cause the phone isn't recognizing my EDGE settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have the same issue using Ziphone. I think Ziphone does something funny to the baseband regarding Edge functionality.

This problem I have confirmed by restoring, downgrading, revirginizing, restoring and attempting to use Ziphone again. The problem is consistent.

The solution is to restore, downgrade or erase baseband, then restore to 1.1.4, then use the iClarified method of jailbreaking +activating +unlocking.
On one occasion I needed to reset network settings under the general settings menu on the iPhone.

This method has worked every time.

I hope this solves your problem.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'd do! Since you're on 3.9 now, do the iclarified method - it worked like a charm for me too - everything works fine! As a side note, Zibri has updated his 2.5 to version 2.5c which he claims does everything right. Tried that last night on another phone restored to 1.1.4 ("Do it all" w/ bl downgrade) and had no Edge issues whatsoever...

    Hi me,
My iphone was 1.1.2 OTB, then restored to 1.1.3 (the sms time error begins), then restore to 1.1.4 and unlocked with ziphone 2.5c (it downloaded my bootloader to 3.9)
Yesterday I made a downgrade to 1.1.2 and the problems with SMS timer error and EDGE were not fix.
Do I have to restore to 1.1.4 and the run Iplus 2.0? Can I do that if my bootloader is 3.9?

    Thank you for your help

Those still having Edge problems is due to the baseband being "modified" by Ziphone.

A restore to any firmware will not restore the "modified" baseband.

The solution is to delete the baseband that was altered by Ziphone: Select "erase the baseband" using Ziphone2.5C, then restore to 1.1.4. This will result in a fresh virgin baseband.

After that you can follow the iClarified method of unlocking etc.

    Which iClarified-method do you mean?
    The iPlus-Version?

I erase the baseband and downgraded the iphone to 1.1.2, then to 1.1.1 and updated to 1.1.2. (In that case my baseband was the one in the FW 112).
Then I did a full restore to 1.1.4 (in DFU mode) and run iplus 2.0, my EDGE problem is still here.

This is the iClarified method I used: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=737

Remember to restore to 1.1.4 after erasing baseband. Then follow the link instructions.
