anythying I can do to confirm before I go to the apple store? Would like to make sure I am set before just handing them the phone...
Put a non AT&T sim on it it should tell you that the sim is not valid
remember after you flash with bootneuter you need to restore with itunes.
Your phone will be jailed, unactivated and locked just as out of the box

Thanks for all the help guys. So now all that worked, restored with itunes. Now when I turn it on, it shows the iphone cable and itunes logo.
Soooo...to take it to the store, do you think the best way is to activate it through itunes with a new account, take it to the store showing them the touch screen issue, and then once i get a replacement, cancel my account? (I assume you can cancel within 30 days without any charges?)

you have to activate the phone legitimately with AT&T account. If you don't have one, you have to set one up. As far as cancelling, I don't know anything about ATT cancelling policy. Don't assume anything.
