Talking [1.1.4] Re-activate iplus (U/A/J) phone using iTunes

    Hello everyone

This is my first post. You have a great community going on here. I have been trying to find 3 things but have failed to do so even w/ search and google. Apologies if this is already answered (likely).

I just bough a refurb 1.0.2 phone from ATT (slickdeals), anyhoo I got impatient and used iplus 2.0 on it before activating it through ATT. I restored to 1.1.4 and ran Iplus, no problems whatsoever. I unlocked it because I was planning on setting up a separate line through my family's plan but after further thought that may be too difficult logistically.

    So my questions are:

1- Can I de-activate my U/A/J phone and activate it using Itunes in order to purchase a plan the legit way? (or can I get to the plan/activate screen some other way, or can I call?

    2. Is it safe to resture my U/A/J phone using 1.1.4 firmware? (I assume so, but I haven't tried) -

2- (somewhat unrelated) How do I know if I have BL 3.9 (stock) or BL 3.9 FB ? Using eZiphone tools I just found 3.9 M3S2 -

    Thanks!

If your phone was 1.0.2 OTB it is the original 3.9 bootloader and it won't be touched by any unlock you use.

The best way to legitimately sign up for a contract is to restore using itunes and then DO NOT run iPlus/iLiberty until after you have signed up using itunes for a contract.

Your unlock will remain as your not changing the baseband - so you can restore over and over without problems!

When the phone is not activated as long as the original AT&T SIM is in the phone it will take you to the sign up page.

Once you have signed up I suggest you restore AGAIN!

This is because if you put another SIM in the phone it will NOT work because the phone is only activated for its official SIM.

Remove your SIM and restore again and use iPlus/iLiberty to jailbreak and activate the phone.

You can then use your official SIM and any other SIM in the phone.

If you don't want to use another SIM ever then you don't need to restore again after signing up for a contract.

IF you leave your official SIM in the phone after your restore it the second time then it will automatically activate and youtube will stop working if you then jailbreak and activate it (I found this from experience).

DO NOT UNLOCK IT AGAIN - the first unlock will remain and any further attempts could mess up your phone!

Thank you SpinStorm. I am going to follow that step by step!

I figured I had the original 3.9 BL since it was 1.0.2; but it was "refurbished" so I wanted to double check some way (maybe they upgraded the BL but not the firmware, or are they not compatible with each other?).

AT&T have NOT been updating the phones in any way at all it appears so you have the original bootloader.

The whole activation with official SIM and any other SIM caused me lots of grief! in the end I simply disconnected the internet so iTunes could not see my phone and SIM were already activated but removing the SIM would have the same effect.

    Ok. Last question.

After I activate using Itunes and restore the second time. Should I just go to jailbreakme.com since the phone is already Activated and Unlocked? Or should I use Iplus 2.0 again? If so, what is the command to only jailbreak and not unlock?

    (I haven't used iliberty)

    Thanks, you've been very helpful!

jailbreakme.com will ONLY work with firmware 1.1.1.

Your on firmware 1.1.4 so it won't work for you.

And you don't need it as that is exactly what iPlus/iLiberty does for you - it jailbreaks and activates and puts installer on your phone.

I am not sure what the command using iPlus to jailbreak only is. I suggest you check the iPlus thread.

iLiberty+ is VERY easy to use - you just tick what you want and press "go".

In your case you would click on jailbreak (which is already ticked anyway!), activate and setup installer. The only thing that iLiberty does not do compared to iPlus is that it does not install BSD subsystem or Vt-100 automatically so you will have to download them using installer.

However if you can track down the jailbreak only command you can use iPlus.

I think if you run iPlus without any other command it ONLY jailbreaks BUT please double check as I am just guessing!
