On 1. Never had this issue. Is working with all my iphone, two j/a/u by Pwnage, one by iLiberty.

On 2. Did you install AppSupport patch for 1.1.4? Tim's solution should avoid the problem. One more: Are your contacts stored with leading + and international prefix?

    Hi SJJ,
CallerID matching changed with the firmware versions. There is a thread here
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...light=callerid
with about a zillion posts. Long story short: As far as I know (and have done on my iphone) applying leading + and international prefix to all contacts is the best way to go.

When I clicked on it, it loaded for like 1 or 2 sec then it is saying "Cannot Connect Youtube". I've also installed youtube activator 1.1.4, but still wont work. Please help! thank you

    volkspost,

Thank you very much for such a complete guide to unlock for newbies

I restored my 16Gb iPhone with iTunes (1.1.4) and followed your guide...no problems, but I would like to upgrade the bootloader from 3.9 to 4.6. I have read the battery life (between charges) can be improved this way. Is this correct?

When the iphone came, it came with the 1.1.4 version from America. I have been using it here in the UK with no problems (except for the battery drain)

Following the guide, I have installed BootNeuter, it shows my version is 3.9.

I first unlocked the iphone with ZiPhone (2.5 I think), and the battery drain was terrible, I am not sure if I should upgrade it to 4.6...do I need to do something else?

    Cheers!

    Yep, ZiPhone does this...
Well, you can get back the original bottloader that matches your iPhone (fw 1.1.4 comes with 4.6). Some users report that battery life improves when using the matching bootloader again.
Just make sure to have set Auto-Lock to Never and connected to Powersource while letting Bootneuter do it's job. You never want to interrupt BootNeuter, thats the only important thing.
You then start Bootneuter and let it determine your setting (you already did this and learned that ZiPhone downgraded your bootloader). Procede as described, just set from 3.9 to 4.6 and hit flash then. From then dont touch the iPhone and you will be set after a few minutes.

Nope. I guess you mix up some stuff here. While ago we had a soft-unlock method where you got the new firmware but kept the old baseband. Google Locate then needed the help of antother app to start working.

Right now I dont know any problems. If you do have an iPhone with downgraded Bootloader that works ok I dont see a reason to switch to 4.6. On the other hand, why not having back the Bootloader that came with the iPhone when OOTB. thanks to the Dev Team's Bootneuter we can switch back. If my battery would not work as expected AND my bootloader should have 4.6 but would be at 3.9 I would give it a try.

Last not least if you have to return the iPhone back to Apple cause of a hardware issue you better make sure to let it look "original".
