[1.1.4] How do I un-unlock back to AT&T?
Hello!
I learned a lot since I started reading the forum, but still not sure how to do this.
Short description:
Unlocked my iPhone in Europe (Ziphone?) and now can't get it it to work again with my AT&T card ("no signal").
Long..:
I stayed in Europe with my iPhone (activated with US AT&T contract). Someone unlocked&jailbroke it for me - on a PC, I think with Ziphone (yeah.. I know..)
I used the phone in Europe with local SIM cards.
Now I'm back in CA and the AT&T card gives me "no signal" + "Activation - might take some time" - "no signal detected" popups.
- I have restored it to "known" iphone and "new" phone.
- Firmware 1.1.4
- Modem FW 04.04.05_G
- Wifi works, all else works
- It still seems to be unlocked (I can still use the european SIM cards)
I have not tried:
- switching the SIM card for another AT&T card
- trying my AT&T SIM in another iPhone
- Genius bar (could do that tomorrow but since it's not locked.. uhmm..)
- calling AT&T
What might I have overlooked?
I'd really appreciate ideas.. for dummies, if possible..
Thanx
- C.

Well, if you had iTunes prompts you for your mobile number from AT&T [not do the activation, just asking for your current AT&T number, punch that in and your iPhone will be activated to receive AT&T signal.
If that does not do the trick, then use WinPwn with a Windows or Pwnage with a Mac on your iPhone in order to activate it. You can also unlock it if you wish in case you ever need to leave the US again.

Hi,
i think that your baseband is still "unlocked" with ziphone or what do you have used.
and with the Original aktivation and hacked unlock your iphone will not work (i think)
Solution:
Follow this guide
than restore via itunes and aktivate it with itunes too.
i think this must work for you.

No, it did not.

OK I got pwnage. I thought that would be used to unlock, not un-unlock.. I'll have another look at it..

Hi Christina!
You are absolutely right, NEVER use ZiPhone as dtube said. You may consider yourself lucky still having a working iPhone.
You will have to relock it again at 1.1.4 firmware then use iTunes to activate it. You said it has been activated with AT&T and you want to use it in the US with the AT&T contract again.
This is what what you should do. Put the iPhone in DFU mode. You can do this manually or even easier with iLiberty (mac or windows, download here
make sure to have the latest iTunes version installed. Connect the iPhone and your PC/Mac and start iLiberty. In iLiberty (Windows) hit the tab "Other Tools" and then hit "Enter DFU mode". In iLiberty (Mac) goto menu "Advanced -> Enter DFU Mode".
Quit iLiberty then and start iTunes. iTunes should discover "an iPhone in recovery mode". Hit "Recover" to get 1.1.4 on your iPhone. After restoring iTunes offers to restore data "from a backup". Dont choose this one choose "setup as a new iPhone" instead.
Your iPhone should be re-activated with AT&T after that and you can go on and sync with iTunes. You can have your AT&T card in the iPhone during the complete process.
If you are ever travelling again, you may use iLiberty or pwnage to unlock your iPhone again for other simcards.
Hope that helps
